Obama played ‘class envy’ card

Obama played ‘class envy’ card

Based on the recent com- ments by President Obama about taxing the “rich,” what does it mean for the “wealthy to pay a little more?” Common wisdom, at least according to the media, is that the wealthy don’t pay enough, and the way we can lessen the deficit is by having them pay a “little more.” Seems fair, right?

The entire story about the wealthy needing to “pay their fair share” is simply about envy. That is a large part of why Obama won re-election: “Class Envy.”

Walter E. Williams of Townhall.com writes that, “According to IRS 2007 data, the richest 1 percent of Americans earned 22 percent of national personal income but paid 40 percent of all personal income taxes. The top 5 percent earned 37 percent and paid 61 percent of personal income tax. The top 10 percent earned 48 percent and paid 71 percent of all personal income taxes. The bottom 50 percent earned 12 percent of personal income but paid just 3 percent of income tax revenues.”

And the worst part is, it won’t work. If the top 1 percent had nearly 90 percent of their money taken from them, they would not invest in anything. And seeing that many small businesses fall under higher tax brackets, these increased taxes would stifle growth in almost every aspect of the job market — aside from government jobs, which I’m sure will be booming under the Obama administration.

What this means is that envy trumps progress. Obama has fostered class envy in the face of actual financial progress. He used envy in order to get elected, at the expense of our country. Whether that is ideological or malicious, we may never know.

Our forefathers came to this country because of the possibility where anyone who worked hard could become rich. How sad for America to now have class envy as an American value.

Do you really think Democrats envy Republicans? I feel sorry for you.

Her's one for you Cathy--the top 10% own 90% of the wealth in this country, but only pay 70% of the taxes.
How much money do you have?

Not only did Obama pay the class envy card, he played the race card. If you voted against him, you were racist.

A recent editorial noted that most people are prejudiced, even though they may not even realize it. C'm on! This is ridiculous!

I would have voted for a good black man for president, if one had run.

Blah & SN I can't wait until ALL of the new taxes in the OBAMMY care kicks in . I'm willing to bet you two are first in the complaint line. But maybe not , you two might be part of he 47% who don't pay any taxes at all. I hope he comes after people like you two too. The free ride is going to be OVER , and very soon!

I don’t mind letting the rich Democrats pay more they are about 75% of the richest people in the country.
Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Larry Ellison Democrats together are worth 126 billion dollars
John Kerry with his rich wife over one billion dollar. They are richer than Romney and his wife.
Out of ten richest in the House of Representatives and the Senate only three are Republicans.
I don’t mind letting John Kerry and his rich wife (D) over a billion dollars, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) $112.13 million, Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.)
$112.13 million, Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.)$80.45 million, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) .$72.37 million, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) $42.94 million pay more, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) $12.53 million, Sen. Harry Reid $6 million and Obama 11.8 million pay more.

How I love to see conservatives like this whine and moan!

Accept the truth, all the rhetoric and fake scandals in the world couldn't get the majority of people to buy into your lies. All the simple-minded rhetoric about tax codes, job-creators, and muslim atheists; and all they could come up with are a bunch of angry and confused 80 year olds....and a psychotic 28 year old in Arizona!

Hahahahaha. This really is a great time to be alive.

Blah seems to forget that that same mandate that Obama allegedly was given also applies to the House of Representatives. I guess there was a mandate by the voters that the Republicans were to maintain control of the House.

It's a shame the Vindy just edited your letter. They should have put it in the "circular file" with the other garbage.

The election is over. You and your tea bagging cronies lost. America has spoken. Get over it or move to one of those laughable states that want to "secede". Good riddance to bad rubbage.

This lady says ".....Our forefathers came to this country because of the possibility where anyone who worked hard could become rich. How sad for America to now have class envy as an American value."

She's partially correct. She left out the part about them FIRST creating rules so that the playing field was level. That's sort of important. And that was exactly the point of this election. The rules of the game have been rigged for the past 40 years by the starting players. And they sold it to this lady and the rest of the teapublican party as trickle down economics, and leave the job creators alone so they can earn their profits. Well, we've been doing that -- and over the last five years American corporations have raked in record profits under our tax code. The only thing the job creators forgot to do with those record profits was to actually create any jobs. Time for plan B. When a compnay outsorces jobs, they pay higher taxes. When they create new jobs, they can get a break. When they earn millions upon millions in profit from their factories in Mexico and China and then sell their stuff here, they pay higher tax. It's not about envy, it's economics. The field must be level, or else only the crooked can win.

Hey blah, you say that Papa Johns made 55M last. That's no big deal if you consider all of the stores they have.

They have 3500 stores. That 55M amounts to $16,000 per store.

I am so glad the voters sent a mandate for the Congress or we all would just bend over and let government have it's way with us. We all need to be thankful the Congress still has a Republican majority or it is over.

Why do you think Ms.Pelosi is checking her diaper to see how things are going. She is a cancer in the Congress. I hope she goes back home.

My guess is if she retires they can appoint her naferious daughter to fill her seat.

We conservatives will bide our time and watch Obama turn his supporters against him, provided he does not go to jail.

The rich sent the good paying middle class jobs to Mexico and China. If that isn't class warfare, I don't know what is.

Hahahahahahaha!! Brightens my day to see these conservatives. How their world just imploded when they realized that most Americans won't buy what they're selling.

As for the House, good thing the GOP was able to gerrymander like they did. If not, they would've lost that as well, remember there were more Democratic votes in the House election than there were GOP. Remove artificially created House districts, start playing a fair game, and the GOP is removed to permanent minority status.

What a great day!

The teabagger/republicans did as much to reelect Obama as any group or donor in the country, thanks for that. Since they are defective, irrelevant and no longer needed they should just go live in those red states they love so much.

Newsmaker, Clinton was president of the U.S., not companies like Delphi, Whirlpool, and a thousand others who took advantage of NAFTA. Yeah, outsourcing was legal but it brought wage growth to a screeching halt. That decision was made by the rich CEO's on behalf of their wealthy investors. That's true class warfare.

Since election day, layoffs have increased, the NYSE is down almost 700 points. What's going on?

Obama has a major decision to make - wether to hang on to his radical left-wing agenda or to come to the true middle and actually work with congress for the good of the middle class and the greater good of this country. I have a feeling that in 2016 we will be able to tell all those elated Dems, "I told you so." At least we wont hear "blame it on Bush" excuse, because it will be all on Obama.

Call it the Envey card. Race card. Class warfare card. call it whay you want repubs. But in the end, CALL IT THE WINNING CARD.

The day before the election Rush Limbaugh said Willard will win by a THRASHING, a Landslide, romney will get 300 or more electoral votes.
When PRESIDENT OBAMA recorded over 320 electoral votes, Rush said the repubs barely lost the election. I guess more then romney is a flip/flop in the repub party.

TEXAS, if you leave the country, Take W with you.

It is obvious the left believes "they" are always right/correct. Now we will see. You now have 8 yrs, and will you still be blaming others for YOUR failed assbackward thinking? LETS SEE I AM BROKE- I WILL NOW GIVE AWAY trillions more in money that does not exist. How does that work? The it hasnt begun to hit the fan yet. I sure hope bama sticks around when we are fighti8ng each other for food in a short time. Think it cant happen? The panic is just starting-Hostess-18,000 jobs today. And when the little companys get the bill for bama care-FREE health care for the masses-illegal aliens come on in we will cover you with health insurance. How many little companys will choose to keep working to pay these fines/taxes. If you think it wont happen-keep drinking your Kool-aid. Line up at the trough and suck it dry-

Obama Care will not be free there will be a fine assess to those who show up "without" collectable by the IRS. But blood from a turnip? This debauchery of health care will results in riots and some dead hospital staff when people find out it is not totally free
Hostess gone, banks nation wide expect 160,000 people with cut hours or layoffs Denny's cut back. others will soon follow as employers will have to report employees and hours and wages for 2014. the 40 hour work week just became 29 and still expect prices to go up and they will. So get ready to learn the trickle down effect with your wallet
