Fashion show puts focus on eating disorders
The Everybody, Every-Body Fashion Show will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngs-town State University.
The show is being organized by the Social Psychology of Clothing class at YSU and focuses on increasing awareness about the perils of eating disorders.
The show, which is free, will feature garment pieces designed by YSU fashion students, eclectic apparel from YSU fashion alumni clothing stores and a live dance performance.
The show is sponsored by 850 Blues, e.j. Hannah and Traci Lynn, with hair and makeup provided by Glow Hair Studio.
Story time today at Newport branch
A free story time with the iPad for 2- to 5-year-olds and their parents or guardians is set for 11:30 a.m. today at the Newport Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 3730 Market St.
The early-literacy program will use Tumblebooks, a database of electronic children’s books with animated features, together with iPad applications geared toward early learning.
Holiday donations in Poland, Struthers
People wishing to donate unwanted but usable holiday gifts and decorations for reuse by others may drop them off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Poland Township Administration Building, 3339 Dobbins Road, and from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the Mauthe Park all-purpose building, 156 Smithfield St., Struthers.
Those wishing to acquire those items free of charge may pick them up from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Mauthe Park pavilion.
Wreaths, lights, ornaments, toys and books may be donated for reuse in this program sponsored by the Mahoning County recycling division.
