Calcutta

An event to benefit the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center will feature a screening of “Green Fire,” a documentary film about conservationist Aldo Leopold and his environmental legacy.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the St. Clair Township administration building, 15442 Pugh Road, in the Peter Metrovich Community Room.

The film will highlight Leopold’s career, explaining how he shaped conservation and the modern environmentalist movement, as well as his vision of a community that cares about both people and land. The film will explore modern projects that show Leopold’s land ethic in action.

The evening will include hors d’oeuvres and beverages served at 6:30 p.m., as well as an auction of gift baskets. The movie screening will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by desserts.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, which offers educational programs and tours to school groups and organizations.

The grounds of the center contain wildlife garden areas, a rain garden, an educational hiking trail, and access to the 4,000-acre Beaver Creek State Park.

Tickets will cost $15 per person or $25 per couple.
