Catholic Charities expanding 2 meal programs
Catholic Charities Senior Center, a program of Catholic Charities Regional Agency, is expanding two meal programs.
The senior center, 600 E. Fourth St., will now offer its home-delivered meal program to the Wellsville area. The center offers home-cooked hot lunches to homebound individuals at a cost of $4 a meal.
Passport clients interested in receiving meals should contact their case workers as some clients may qualify for meals to be paid for through the Passport Program.
The Passport Program provides services to eligible seniors, including adult day-care, delivered meals and other services to help seniors remain in their own homes. Passport works in collaboration with Catholic Charities Senior Center.
The center recently bought a new van specifically made to transport hot and cold foods. The funds were from the Walmart Fighting Hunger campaign in May 2012. The van will allow more meals to be served to those who are shut in because of age and/or medical conditions.
The center also will serve free meals for people in need from 2 to 5 p.m. the third and fourth Thursdays of the month. That program begins Thursday.
Resources will be available offering information on other programs provided by Catholic Charities such as assistance with transportation, referrals to community resources, emergency assistance, other hot meal programs and assistance with prescription/medications to those who qualify.
