Girard: The Girard Community Band presents a free Veterans Day concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Girard First Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St. Veterans in attendance will be recognized. Enjoy an evening of patriotic music and show appreciation for veterans.
Warren: Ponderosa Steakhouse, 3581 Elm Road NE, will give all veterans a free buffet and beverage from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
Warren: The W.D. Packard Concert Band presents a free Veterans Day Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, at W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW. Veterans who attend will be honored and recognized during the performance of “Armed Forces Salute.”
Canfield: 10 a.m. Sunday, Veterans Day service at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St.
North Lima: Beaver Township will host a Veterans Day observance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the township Veterans Memorial, at the intersection of state Routes 164 and 165. The event will feature speakers and music, and the Mahoning Valley Wall of Honor will be on display. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the township safety building, 11999 South Ave.
Struthers: A Veterans Day ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Struthers Veterans Memorial, Morrison Street and Euclid Avenue. Guest speaker at the event will be Army Lt. Col. Roderick A. Hosler, who has served in many positions in active and reserve duty and is now professor of military science at Youngstown State University. The Struthers High School Band, with students Tyler Guerrieri and Alyssa Gage, will participate.
Youngstown: A Veterans Day assembly will take place at 9 a.m. Monday at Youngstown Christian School, 4401 Southern Blvd. Guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Erik Nagy, commander of the 437th Military Police Battalion. Several units in his battalion are serving in or getting ready to serve in the Middle East. The assembly will conclude at 9:30 a.m. All veterans are invited to stay for breakfast after the assembly.
Youngstown: American Legion Post 504 will honor and celebrate veterans at 5 p.m. Sunday at 2225 Glenwood Ave. Keynote speaker is the Rev. Jack Pettis, retired Navy veteran. Special honoree is Cynthia Carter, the post’s first female member. Refreshments will be served.
Youngstown: The United Veterans Council of Greater Youngstown will observe Veterans Day at 11 a.m. Sunday at the rotunda of the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St. Jan Brown will be master of ceremonies; outgoing commander, William Pacak, and Barry Landgraver, director of the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, will share remarks; Army Col. Walter Duzzny will speak; and Marine Corps League Tri-State Detachment 494 will post the colors and provide the rifle salute. At 11:45 a.m, the gathering will travel to the Civil War monument downtown, where a wreath will be laid in honor of all veterans.
On Sunday, all area Handel’s locations will participate in “Let Us Serve You,” a Veterans Day recognition where they will offer free single cones to all veterans and military personnel with a valid military ID.
The 12th annual Golden Corral Restaurants Veterans Appreciation Dinner is from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday. The free meal is available to anyone who has served in the U.S. military including retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard or Reserve, at all Golden Corral restaurants.
T.G.I. Friday’s, 7165 Tiffany Blvd., Boardman, will honor veterans with a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. Take proof of military service, which includes a U.S. uniform services ID card, a U.S. uniform services retired ID card, a current leave and earnings statement, veterans organization card, a DD214 or a photograph in uniform, or wear your uniform.
Covelli Enterprises will honor military service and veterans Monday with free meals at any Panera Bread or O’Charley’s restaurants. By wearing a uniform or showing military ID or discharge papers, veterans and service members will earn a free You-Pick-Two meal at Mahoning Valley Panera Bread locations or a free $9.99 entree at area O’Charley’s. O’Charley’s also offers a year-round 10 percent discount for veterans and military service members.
