YOUNGSTOWN — Those coming downtown will be greeted by signs welcoming them.
One “Welcome to Downtown Youngstown” sign was unveiled today on the south end of the city’s Central Square. The sign on the north side of the square will be installed early next week.
Also, in a couple of months, about 60 new street signs will include “downtown Youngstown” on them.
“It’s to help establish and recognize downtown as a new neighborhood,” said Bill D’Avignon, the city’s Community Development Agency director.
The city will spend about $5,000 for the street signs. The Raymond John Wean Foundation’s Neighborhood Success Grant program provided the $2,200 needed for the two large signs on Central Square.

Yeah!!! Now downtown will be a safe place to bring your family. And people will now simply not see all the vacant buildings all over the place, and the slums, and the homeless people, and the drug deals, etc.
Just more wasted money.
