Members of Holy Family Parish School’s Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) organization learned the importance of giving back as they made rosaries for parish and community members Oct. 19.
“This is ARK’s fifth and sixth-grade group and what they’re doing is a service project. They’re making rosaries to give to mothers at the Beatitude house for local seminarians who are studying for priesthood and for our own priest and deacons at Holy Family Parish,” said ARK Group Leader Tina Kali.
“The girls are also making Halloween treat bags for children that reside at the Beatitude Homes in Youngstown. This is an act of random kindness that also ties in with our Catholic identity in that we are a Catholic school and the rosary is a big part of our prayer.”
Students were excited as they made colorful rosaries. Some students were thrilled to be able to give back to the community. According to Kali, the event not only gave members the opportunity to learn the appreciation of charity, but also broadened the horizons of students and opened up their perspectives of the world around them.
“I think that everyone should be aware of their surroundings and others in need. Children need to know there’s more beyond their school and neighborhood and that they should be thankful for what they have,” Kali said.
