Varsity basketball tickets available

Canfield 2012-13 varsity boys basketball reserved seat season tickets are now on sale in the school’s athletic office. The 11-game package costs $88. For questions, call 330-533-5341.

Canfield hockey takes victory

The Canfield developmental hockey team opened up the season with a 5-1 win over Strongsville in Cleveland Suburban Hockey League action.

The Cards were led by Peter Crescimanno with three goals. Ben Weiss and Stephen Sansoterra also picked up a goal each. Dan Drotleff added two assists for Canfield and Joe Scoleri, Weiss, and Sansoterra also picked up an assist each. Pat Byrne and Charlie Cole split time in goal in the victory.

Canfield developmental is coached by Mark Maxwell.

Murphy takes first in swim meet

Madison Murphy, 7, who represented Penguin Swimming, recently took home six medals from the Splash Out Cancer swim meet hosted at the Strongsville Community Center.

Of girls in the 7 and under breaststroke category, Murphy placed first with a time of 24.63. She also took second place in 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke, and third place in 25 butterfly.

Penguin swimming is a member of the Lake Erie Swimming League and is coached by Greg McAtee. Murphy is a second-grader at C.H. Campbell in Canfield.
