Spaghetti dinner Sunday to help Debbie Cope

Before Sept. 19, 2012, Debbie Cope of East Palestine lived her life as she expected — time at home, time with friends and family and time at her job at Sheely’s Furniture and Appliance in North Lima.

But on Sept. 19 everything changed.

A blood clot at the opening of her small intestine required a Life Flight to the Cleveland Clinic. Several grueling surgeries followed.

Today, Cope is in an acute rehabilitation hospital waiting to undergo even more surgeries.

To help with medical expenses, Cope’s friends and coworkers at Sheely’s are hosting a spaghetti dinner Sunday from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road.

The event features a 50/50 raffle and basket auction.

Admission is $5 for children 10 and younger and $10 for those 11 and older.

For ticket information or donations call Barb at 646-305-6942 or email

Tickets can be purchased at the door, and carry-out is available.
