The holiday movie season arrives this weekend, bringing some much- anticipated films and maybe some Oscar contenders. A look at the first five coming to theaters:

v “Skyfall” (opens Friday): The new Bond thriller proves Sam Mendes can direct action. Daniel Craig already has shown what he can do. In his third 007 installment, he finds himself in a cat-and-mouse with a slippery mastermind played by Javier Bardem.

v “Lincoln” (Friday): Director Steven Spielberg’s unexpected and moving portrait reveals a president (Daniel Day- Lewis) in the midst of a crucial few weeks near the end of the Civil War, when the abolition of slavery wasn’t considered good politics.

v “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” (Nov. 16): Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson experience the joys of parenthood, while Taylor Lautner experiences the latest test of his acting abilities in director Bill Condon’s finale.

v “Red Dawn” (Nov. 21): The invading Russians of the Reagan-era fantasy have been turned into North Koreans, requiring a little gentle diplomacy from Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson and Chris Hemsworth.

v “Life of Pi” (Nov. 21): Director Ang Lee takes on the novel about the Indian boy at sea with a Bengal tiger.

Led Zeppelin movie encore screenings

Because of the strong demand, additional screenings have been added for “Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day,” the concert film featuring the legendary rock band.

The film was shot at a one-time reunion concert in 2007 in London. It was released last month.

The additional screenings in northeast Ohio will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cinemark, 6001 Canal Road, Valley View; Tinseltown, 4720 Mega St. NW, North Canton; and Southpark Mall cinemas in Strongsville; Cinemark 17 at Pittsburgh Mills Mall in Tarentum, Pa.; and Cinemark in Robinson Township, Pa.
