Packard Band plans concert for veterans

The W.D. Packard Concert Band will have a free Veterans Day concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW. Stephen L. Gage is conductor.
The concert will include soloist James Logan of the U.S. Navy Band on clarinet. He will be featured in music made famous by Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw.
Members of the Packard Band will join Logan for a rousing Dixieland encore arrangement of “Anchors Away In Swing.” They include Marc Pupino, trumpet; James Jackson, trombone; Jack Ciarniello, piano; Ben Ammon, tuba; and Joseph Parlink, drums.
“Lonely Beach (Normandy, 1944)” will feature a video presentation that will complement the musical depiction the D-Day invasion of World War II. The presentation is being prepared by Zachary Szewczyk of Howland.
Veterans in attendance will be honored and recognized during the performance of “Armed Forces Salute.”
