DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame is set to induct 15 new members.
The Dayton Daily News reports that the honorees will be inducted in a public ceremony Thursday at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton.
A 13-member selection committee picks up to 20 veterans each year based on what the person has accomplished since their time in uniform. The Hall of Fame currently has 428 members.
The new honorees include Lawrence Fornes, a World War II veteran who served as a youth coach, Cub Scout leader, foster parent and hospice volunteer. Also James Fortune, a Vietnam veteran who has given more than 20,000 hours of volunteer service and donated more than a half-million dollars in supplies and equipment to organizations in need.
