Man gets prison for paralyzing western Pa. woman

GREENSBURG, Pa.

A western Pennsylvania man could spend up to 40 years in prison for shooting his now-paralyzed ex-girlfriend after she woke up in her car in her mother’s driveway.

Forty-five-year-old Lawrence Redman, of Greensburg, denied purposely shooting 28-year-old Anamarie Henderson on Sept. 24, 2011, despite his conviction for attempted murder and other charges in August.

Henderson claims the couple argued while barhopping the night before and that Redman merely went to get his wallet and gun from the car after Henderson drove away without him from a bar. Redman claims Henderson was hit with “warning shots” he fired after the mother of two pulled a knife.

But Westmoreland County Judge John Blahovec didn’t believe that and told Redman he hopes he’ll spend the maximum amount of his 20- to 40-year sentence in prison.
