FOOD SALES AND DINNERS

TODAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. The meal consists of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. Cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. For takeouts or to order ahead call the church at 330-743-3175.

Holy Family Parish Third Source Committee will sponsor a drive-up takeout cavatelli dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. at the church, 2729 Center Road, Poland. Tickets are $8, and the meal consists of cavatelli with sauce and meatball, salad, bread and dessert.

THURSDAY

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will serve its annual turkey dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and $1 for kids 5 and under. Carryouts are available. Advance sales are recommended. For tickets call the church office at 330-758-4527.

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will have its monthly drive-thru chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $6. Dinners consist of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Dinners will be taken to your car. A portion of profits is used for missions. Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

VFW Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will have a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under; carryouts are $6.25. The menu comprises spaghetti and meatballs, salad, Italian bread and coffee or tea.

FRIDAY

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528, and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 for a baker’s dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., will sell Brier Hill pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling 330-746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; walk-in orders will be available. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

SATURDAY

Fowler United Methodist Church, 3426 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, will serve a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The meal consists of chicken pie, potato, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, bread, dessert and drink. Takeout is available. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12; those 5 and under eat free. Contact Donna Gallatin at 330-638-5189.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima will have its 28th annual kielbasa and sauerkraut dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. The meal includes mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread, beverage and pie. Takeout is available. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4 for children 7 to 12; those 6 and under eat free. For information or to register call the church office at 330-549-2406.

Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Hall Ave., Hubbard, will serve a pork and kraut supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and free for those 5 and under. Carryout is available. There will be a trade fair during dinner. The event is sponsored by the men of the church.

New Waterford United Methodist Church, 46925 S. State St., will serve a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m.

Old Springfield United Church of Christ, 11957 state Route 170, New Middletown, will host a turkey dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The meal includes turkey, trimmings, dessert and beverage. Carryout is available. Cost is $8 for adults, $3.50 for age 6 to 12, and 5 and under eat free. Tickets can be bought at the door. A basket auction will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sharon First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, Pa., will serve a chicken pie dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Takeout is available. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $3.50 for 12 and under.

St. Joseph Social Hall, 4565 New Road, Austintown, will serve a roast beef dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The meal comprises roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dessert and beverage. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. The event is sponsored by its men’s club.

SUNDAY

Boy Scout Troop 40 of St. Rose Church, Girard will sponsor their annual turkey dinner from noon to 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Girard, 22 N. Market St., Girard. The menu includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy and several other side dishes, fresh baked dinner rolls, beverage and dessert. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 under 12; under 3 eats free. Advance tickets are available from any Troop 40 scout and will be sold at the door. Walk-ins are welcome and takeout is available.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Via Mount Carmel, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children. All carryouts are $7; containers are 75 cents or you can provide your own.

Struthers United Methodist Church, 33 Sexton St., will have a beef-tip dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Carryout is available.

TUESDAY

High Pointe Church is hosting its 15th annual free community Thanksgiving dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at Struthers High School, 111 Euclid Ave.

TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Jr. Croatian Tamburitzans will take orders for apple or cheese strudels for the holidays for $8 each. Strudels are frozen and come with baking instructions. Pick-up will be Nov. 20 at the Croatian Home, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown. Deadline to order is Nov. 14. Call Windi Kresic 330-980-9384.

Holy Apostles Parish will be taking orders for smoked kolbasz from Saturday until Dec. 2 at 330-793-1390 or 330-629-2695. Cost is $4.25 a pound. Pickup will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 18 at Sts. Peter and Paul Social Hall, 421 Covington St. For information call 330-398-9140.

Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, is taking orders for apricot, poppyseed, lekvar or nut kolachi. Cost is $8 each. To order call 330-758-7447 or 330-542-3884; deadline is Sunday. Pickup is from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 15.

St. Anne Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, is taking orders for poppyseed and apricot kolachi for $11 each, and nut and nut with raisin kolachi for $12 each. Deadline is Nov. 14; call Charlene Bury at 330-519-5311. Pickup will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17.

UPCOMING

Christ the Good Shepherd Parish will have a Vilija dinner Dec. 2 at St. John the Baptist Slovak Church, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell. Cocktails will be at 3 p.m. with dinner at 4. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. The dinner is sponsored by St. John the Baptist Slovak Cultural Society. For tickets call 330-755-1979.

Fellowship Tabernacle Christian Center, 2139 Market St., will host a free Thanksgiving feast from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 for the less fortunate.

Holy Apostles Roman Catholic Parish at Sts. Peter & Paul Church Social Hall, 421 Covington St., will serve Croatian roast chicken and homemade chicken noodle soup from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18. Dinner comprises chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable, bread, homemade chicken noodle soup and dessert. Beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets must be reserved by Tuesday. Call Mary Ann at 330-534-2871 or the central office at 330-743-1905. No tickets will be sold at the door.
