Campbell to give land to company that cleans drililng water

Published: Wed, November 7, 2012 @ 9:56 p.m.

CAMPBELL

A company that cleans wastewater from shale drilling so it can be reused is considering moving to Campbell; its proposal includes one or more injection wells for waste disposal.

The company, ESI Enviro, LLC, would move to 15 acres of old Sheet and Tube Co. property the city owns to the right of a new bridge on Bob Cene Way in the brownfields along the Mahoning River, said 4th Ward Councilman Robert Yankle.

The public is invited to comment and ask questions at a hearing at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the city building, 31 Tenney Ave.

“We are going to give them the land,” Yankle said Wednesday, adding that the city cannot do anything with it because there is 500,000 cubic feet of asbestos buried there.
