ELECTION UPDATE| State: Rep. Johnson headed to re-election #vindyvote
The Vindicator is calling the 6th Congressional District in favor of U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, the Republican incumbent.
Johnson is beating Democrat Charlie Wilson of St. Clairsville in 13 of the district’s 18 counties, including Columbiana, the most populous county in the district, and in Mahoning County.
“We’re just very excited that my message of smaller government, less government regulations and less government involvement in our lives resonated with my constituents,” said Johnson of Marietta.
With most precincts reporting, Johnson was beating Wilson by about 7 percentage points.
In 2010, Johnson beat Wilson, then a two-term incumbent congressman, by about 5 percent.
