The Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Carroll, Columbiana, Mahoning and Stark counties will host a cover-crop workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Bros. Inc., 3821 Union Ave.
The workshop will teach how to improve soil quality, reduce nitrogen, increase yields, and how to combat weeds and compaction with the use of cover crops.
New research is showing cover crops, in conjunction with practices such as no tilling, can have environmental and production benefits.
Registration will take place from 4:30 p.m. until the event begins at 5. Those planning to attend should call the local SWCD. Refreshments will be available.
The Carroll SWCD can be reached at 330-627-9852; Columbiana SWCD, 330-332-8732; Mahoning SWCD, 330-740-7995; and Stark SWCD, 330-830-7700, ext. 103.
