Kasich boosts Romney by laying off divisive ideas

Published: Mon, November 5, 2012 @ 2:34 p.m.

COLUMBUS (AP) — Gov. John Kasich is doing what he can to help Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney win the battleground state — and that sometimes includes holding his tongue.

The normally vocal Kasich has seen an uptick in his approval ratings since summer. The rise has coincided with his relative silence on divisive policy changes he’s advancing, including a tax increase on big oil drillers, further privatization of state functions and possible spending cuts to balance Ohio’s next two-year operating budget.

The Republican governor is focusing instead on email blasts to supporters, pro-Romney op-eds, upbeat rally speeches and national TV interviews touting GOP economic policies.

In a weekend op-ed in the Plain Dealer, Kasich said casting a vote for Romney would mean spreading business-friendly policies like Ohio’s across the nation and would heal the economy.

“The solution is simple. Do what we’re doing here in Ohio at a national level: Cut taxes, rein in spending, pursue common-sense regulations, make government work better and get it out of the way so job creators can do what they do best — innovate, grow and create jobs,” he wrote. “Mitt Romney understands this and will do it as president.”

I grew up in Youngstown and left just as the steel mills were failing. I moved to California and started a clothing business. I did it with ''no government help''. I created a business that employed 60 young people and helped put them through college. Several of them keep in touch and many have gone on to build their own business's. Creating jobs is what makes this country move forward. Bigger government involvement = smaller citizen. A vote for Romney is a vote for a better America no matter where you live.

It's easy to cut the state budget when you can push off that spending to local governments. That isn't rocket science. All it does is force local homeowners to pass higher levies to keep the same services.

Nobody and I repeat, NOBODY "believes or trusts" Ohio Gov. Kasich...therefore whatever he says or does for replugs is absolutely NO FACTOR in weighted values. Kasich was told..."Stay Away" far away.

Please folks, open your eyes. Look around. If you haven't traveled away from the Youngstown area you may not realize what a depressed area this is.

Youngstown area population has declined from 164,372 in the 1960 census to 66,982 in the 2010 census. The remaining population is aging. The educated are leaving. The hope & change you wanted did not appear.

You may feel that bigger government, hand outs, and taxing the rich are the answer. Even if we take ALL the wealth of this great nation, yours, mine and the rich we'd only have $3 trillion to reduce the deficit of $16 trillion and growing. A trillion dollars is a number that we can almost not even fathom. At some point really soon, our ship is about to sink!

We've already had our government credit rating downgraded for the 1st time in history under this president. Our loans are short term. Currently, the interest rate is extremely low. Once the interest rates raise, we'll see the deficit skyrocket.

Think about the concept of bringing jobs to the American people. When businesses feel confident about the future, they will hire. When people are hired, they are taken off government assistance. When people have a job, they contribute in taxes, which will contribute to the deficit going down. People want opportunity to better themselves. They want a better future for their children. People want to maintain their dignity.

Taxing the rich as an only solution is not the answer. As long as businesses are being strangled, our economy will suffer. Look at the big picture. Learn from other countries like Greece. Let's not make the same mistakes. This president is taking us in a direction that we do not want to go simply by being asleep at the wheel. He has been absent from his jobs council and daily intelligence meetings more than 40% of the time. He refused to meet with world leaders. He wanted to be a transparent president however there have been more questions than answers.

The Democrats destroyed the economy. Take a look at the marvelous job Dear Leader Bronco Bama has done:

-US Credit Rating LOWERED
-43 months of 8%+ unemployment
-16.2 trillion dollars in DEBT
-Al Qaeda is ALIVE
-Ambassador/Navy Seals DEAD
-47 million on FOOD STAMPS
-MILLIONS left the labor force
-Grocery prices up 15%
-Income down 8.2%
-Gasoline prices up 250%
-Benghazi cover UP
-Fast n Furious cover UP
-Fraudulent "green" projects

And how about the other wonderful things the Democrats have achieved over the years:

The Democrat Party

-Fought for slavery
-Began the Civil War
-Founded the Ku Klux Klan
-Created Jim Crow
-Levied poll taxes
-Fought against Civil Rights
-Insured Japanese internment

The Democrats have been working to keep blacks and others down for 250 years!! Woo-hoo! Thank you Democrats!

Lower taxes?? For who? My state taxes aren't any lower. And to continue to receive local services like police, fire, etc...I now pay higher taxes. Why? Because the teapublicans decided to cut the state funds and lower taxes on the businesses -- who use the very SAME local resources that I'm now paying more for as a home owner. These guys are SCAM Artists of the highest degree. Lower taxes my a$$.

Hey 76ytown -- whoever said taxing the rich was the only solution? Not the president. His plan has just as many cuts as it does revenue increases. As EVERY credible economist has stated - you can't do it on cuts alone and you can't do it on revenues alone. That's why obama's plan has both. Romney's plan is a figment - and you're buying it. And as far as kasich's lowering taxes - he hasn't lowered mine - in fact, mine are now higher because he lowered taxes on businesses ONLY, not for homeowners, He cut funds from the state and passed it off to the local communities to make up the difference with their property taxes, sales taxes, etc. YOU GOT SCAMMED - and yet you sit there and write a post on his behalf as if he's is doing us all a favor. I now pay more and get less for my tax dollars while businesses that use the same community resources get a tax cut. And by the way, when you left, this area might have been depressed. It's not that way now. County revenues are WAY UP because the people and businesses here are doing better. And when the middle class has money to spend, the economy does well - that's it and that's all. We're on our way back b/c of a strong lordstwon plant, VMI, and the natural gas industry. These are good things and we're capitalizing on them. They happened under obama, not bush - and romney wasn't anywhere around. So if you want to sit back and preach from the pulpit of reason, no problem, but you should first know what the hell you're talking about if you expect to have any credibility with the people around here.

And for all my faithful teathuglican baggers here -- everyone in the country -- except for you geniuses - realize that the US credit rating was lowered b/c the tea party morons in COngress decided to play chicken with our debt ceiling a couple years ago. Rmember?? I guess you don't. But everyone else does. Perhaps that's why the vast majority of the country can no longer stand the sight or sound of any of you. You're all done come Wed -- Deal with it.

I don't think we want him now but anything is better than O-Breaking-The-Bank. Do you hear ANYBODY talking about how great Mitt is? Not really. We are all consumed with how unbelievably TERRIBLE this current mistake of a President has become. Mark these words... BHO will go down in history as the most abysmal President ever.
