Rep. Boehner: Obama will doom drilling

Published: Mon, November 5, 2012 @ 12:00 a.m.

John Boehner chats with Virginia Whitacre of Warren after his speech in Niles on Sunday.

By Ed Runyan

John Boehner, Republican Speaker of the U.S. House, targeted the region’s growing oil and gas industry when he spoke in the parking lot of the Great East Plaza on Sunday night.

“And there’s another thing the president has really gone after, and that’s coal, oil, gas. We know what’s going to happen here. His EPA and 20 other agencies are trying to find some way to regulate fracking in America,” Boehner said.

“You know what that means, don’t you? That means they’re going to try to shut down gas and oil wells on private land. They’ve already done it on public land.”

Boeher, the third person in the line of succession for the presidency behind Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, talked about five minutes to about 250 people in front of the Republicans’ Niles Victory Center at the plaza.

The large green “Team Boehner” bus pulled up in front of the center at about 5 p.m. after several other Republican speakers and candidates had already addressed the crowd, including Republican Congressional candidates David Joyce of Geauga County and Marisha Agana of Howland (running against Tim Ryan of Niles in the 17th District) and U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel, who is challenging incumbent Sherrod Brown.

Boehner, of suburban Cincinnati, made four stops in Ohio Sunday in support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and other GOP candidates, with Niles being the third stop. He was headed to Lisbon a short time after he finished speaking and greeting members of the Niles audience.

Mandel and Congressman Bill Johnson of Marietta, R-6th, who introduced Boehner, spent time talking about the healtcare reform act, with Mandel saying he will be the “51st vote to repeal Obamacare, and Johnson saying voters in two days need to send the president a “big message: we don’t believe in Obamacare.”

Boeher said Americans have “given [President Obama] a lot of opportunities. It hasn’t worked.”

After the rally, Chuck Artmam of Bristollville, a retired General Motors worker, said the speakers “reinforced that we need change. All we’ve had in the last four years is failure.”

Yianni Varonis, a spokesman for Obama for America-Ohio, said later Sunday, “John Boehner’s visit is nothing more than an effort to distract Mahoning Valley voters from Mitt Romney’s true record. Whereas President Obama saved the auto industry, strengthening the Valley’s middle class and moving our economy forward, Mitt Romney would’ve ‘let Detroit go bankrupt’ and would pay for tax breaks for the wealthy on the backs of the middle class.”

Paul Ryan, GOP vice presidential candidate, will come to Youngstown Warren Regional Airport tonight for an election-eve rally.

So it only takes 5 minutes for Boehner to give all he can. How impressive.

Mandel, give it up. You will not be in the Senate come January. Even if elected you probably won't be there to vote anyhow. You voted 95% of the time with Repubs and complain that Senator Brown did the same as you.

It takes anybody more then 4 years to fix the mess that Obama took over.

If OBama is re-elected how many years will it take to recover from the 10 plus trillion dollars of debt that he will have left us with? Not to mention the costs of OBamacare. Look back and see what the projections for the cost of Medicare/Medicaid were supposed to be. And then look at what the actual costs were. No where even close to the projections.

So add Boehner to the list (as if we haven't already) who'll say anything, no matter how contradictory to the facts, to get Romney elected.

Obama isn't going to "doom drilling" any more than he outlawed guns, as was the big worry in his first election. Quit acting like sheep and think!!!

Why is regulating fracking a bad thing? Why do republicans think businesses and industries can and should regulate themselves?

Clearly, they are not that gullible and trusting.

So they must be corrupt and greedy. How much money has Boehner taken from Fracking companies?

Romney - Ryan 2012.

It will come down to Ohio. I think it is essentially tied here, perhaps Obama may have a 1pt lead. Turnout tomorrow will be key.

I would put Obama's odds at 55% to win, but you just never know what to expect.

Expect the worst, hope for the best. GO ROMNEY!

Hey Delph, flip the record over and play the "B" side for a while because this song you're singing is beyond old. Mitt Romney, Bain Capital and the Republican Party are the destroyers of pensions, not Obama and the Democrats. Mitt will tell you and your fellow pensioners to stick it where the sun don't shine, so you'd best stop disparaging the President.

Many people have lost pensions over the years. You sure aren't the first or last, but you sure cry the most and lash out with blame to the blameless. The disgrace you speak of is not the President, it's in your selfishness. As the Godfather told Johnny Fontaine, "Act like a man!"

I, for one, believe fracking should be done away with.

Drilling vertical wells and not fracturing- YES!

Digging for coal- YES!

Drilling horizontal wells (and probably invading other private property without owner's concent), injecting those horizontal wells with high-pressure, toxic, hazardous waste to enable the fracturing of the shale releasing the methane ONLY TO SHIP THE GAS OVERSEAS TO CHINA, FRANCE INDIA AND OTHER OF "THEIR" "DEVELOPING COUNTRIES WITHOUT OUR BEING ABLE TO USE THE GAS HERE TO OUR BENEFIT- A RESOUNDING NO!!!

Kasich has given free reign to the oil and gas companies, including not only U.S. companies BUT THE FORIEGN COMPANIES FROM CHINA AND FRANCE AS WELL, to be able to drill these horizontal, invasive, toxic fracking wells WITHOUT A MANDATORY TESTING AND STUDY OF A POTENTIAL (and most likely probable) environmental disaster... you know, like earhquakes and explosive drinking water,.....

Boehner and Kasich following partisan rules and obeying the dictates from headquarters... same old, same old...

I don't like Republican Speaker of the House Boehner- he announced, after he strong-armed his way into getting that position (with a little help from his "friends" in Washington), that he would make sure that there would be tight reins on Ron Paul (therefore
driving Ron Paul into obscurity in his Presidential bid).

Both are neoCONS.

Ron Paul is not a neoCON.

And I'm sure Romney is a neoCON too.

What and who to believe?

Obama is kind of like a favorite pair of shoes. When the toes start coming out and they cause discomfort it is time to discard them. The Obama administration is starting to cause discomfort nationwide and it is time for a new one. We can always savor the memories of the past and forge ahead into a new future. The most damning indictments against Barack Obama as he seeks reelection are his) false promises.
“That’s why today, I’m pledging to cut the deficit we inherited by half by the end of my first term in office.” That categorical pledge occurred three years ago, February 23, 2009.
Obama’s assurance that, “If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”.

CNS.Com News: What Bush did it in eight years. Obama has done in three years and two months. Obama has added more to the national debt in three years and two months than Bush did in eight years. Ref. Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department.

The Obama's big time vacations has added over a half billion to the debt. They take about one a month. His wife is costing us over a million a year for all her servants. The Obama’s are living like kings on our tax dollars and loans from other countries that we have to pay interest on.

Obama said he would secure our borders when he was running for president in 2008. Our borders are not secure! He sued Arizona for enforcing the law that he would not enforce.

Obama had his chance and failed Romney is a good business man that can straighten out the mess in Washington if anyone can. Romney will save Social Security and Medicare with Obama they will go belly up.

The current administration wants to impose new regulations on fracking, but what happens is that Ohio gets less investment and less development and additional regulators. You basically wind up with the equivalent of DMV employees being responsible for whether or not Ohio’s economy grows. Don’t we have enough rules and regulations already?

Nice the way you want to inject race into everything. Just because someone disagrees with Barack Hussein Obama, they are racist. Don't forget the president is half-white too. I don't support this president since I look at where he was raised, listen to what he proposes and I believe he is in love with the principles of Marxism. He would like to have a society where the state owned everything, there would be no class and we would adhere to the principle "from each according to their means to each according to their needs". Every citizen would be beholden to the government. Of course, this would stifle initiative but that wouldn't matter.

So, I will give you a softball. You and all the rest of the Obama supporters should just keep drinking the orange Kool-aid!

Some of you make me laugh when you say it takes more than 4 years to fix the issues that "Obama inherited."

Please stop and think for a second the things he has done to our country, namely increasing our debt from $11T to $17T in that time period. Do you know how this is going to impact our economy, especially in a global market? How about our plan to repay this debt? Will it be with USD? Heck no! It will be with techonology, weapons, aircraft, naval ships, precious metals, things that truly matter.

I urge people to research the facts and not buy into what the news says. It's not always right.

When Romney said let GM go bankrupt, the Repubs always say his tactic was not to shut down GM. The repubs always want to show Willard never said "shut down GM".

However the Repubs will use the same type scare tactic. Obama and local Dems only want FRACKING done safely. They do NOT want to shut it down completely. Repub "show me where Obama wants frecking stopped. Just because the EPA wants to protect life and property does not mean fracking should be stopped. They just want it to be safe. Fracking can be great for the Valley. But not if fault lines are being hit and causing earthqukes.

Bigdrill. if i had a pair of shoes so comfortable that i wore them out, I would want the same type of shoe again.

And I agree about the scare tactic about GUN control. The guns and ammo sold out at stores 4 years ago. Again empty scare tactics by the repubs.

About Valerie Jarret:

The freakishly weasel-like Valerie Jarrett warned Americans not voting for President Obama , “After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded; the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.”
This is what President Obama meant when he told Russian arms negotiators that once his re-election was assured, he would have “more flexibility” to disarm Marxism’s longtime enemy – the American people. Jarrett means that Russia’s enemies are Obama’s as well. If Jarret sounds like a leather-coated member of the old Soviet Cheka, it’s because political opponents are targets that must be dealt with – liquidated if necessary.
Chief among Obama’s opponents is the United States Constitution. That is why, after we get what we “deserve,” the Stalinist Obama regime has two justices in the wings – ready to sweep from our tattered founding document what few legal protections are afforded citizens in the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Don’t kid yourself. This is not the bare-knuckled politics practiced in Chicago. This is the unmasked monster of totalitarianism.
Jarrett’s promised “payback” is why unseating this president on November 6 is so important – to relieve him of the totalitarian “flexibility” he and his cult followers so desperately crave.

In an astonishing display of media malpractice, CBS News quietly released proof--two days before the election, far too late to reach the media and the public--that President Barack Obama lied to the public about the Benghazi attack, as well as about his later claim to have called the attack "terrorism" from the beginning.
CBS unveiled additional footage from its 60 Minutes interview with President Obama, conducted on Sep. 12 immediately after Obama had made his statement about the attacks in the Rose Garden, in which Obama quite clearly refuses to call the Benghazi an act of terror when asked a direct question by reporter Steve Kroft:

KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?

OBAMA: Well it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans. And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.

CBS News held onto this footage for more than six weeks, failing to release it even when questions were raised during the Second Presidential Debate as to whether Obama had, in fact, referred to the Benghazi attack as an act of terror before blaming it falsely on demonstrations against an anti-Islamic video. The moderator, CNN's Candy Crowley, intervened on Obama's behalf, falsely declaring he had indeed called the attack an act of terror in his Rose Garden statement, and creating the impression that Romney was wrong.

That exchange turned what would have been an outright win for Romney in the debate into a narrow win or possibly a loss--and it discouraged him from bringing up the issue again in the next debate or on the campaign trail. CBS News could have set the record straight, but held onto this footage, releasing it just before the election--perhaps to avoid the later charge of having suppressed it altogether.

Fox News' Bret Baier, who has been following the timeline of events closely, noted in his analysis this morning:

These are two crucial answers in the big picture. Right after getting out of the Rose Garden, where, according to the second debate and other accounts he definitively called the attack terrorism, Obama is asked point blank about not calling it terrorism. He blinks and does not push back.

Understand that this interview is just hours after he gets out of the Rose Garden.

How after this exchange and the CIA explanation of what was being put up the chain in the intel channels does the Ambassador to the United Nations go on the Sunday shows and say what she says about a spontaneous demonstration sparked by that anti-Islam video? And how does the president deliver a speech to the United Nations 13 days later where he references that anti-Islam video six times when referring to the attack in Benghazi?

The Democrats destroyed the economy. Take a look at the marvelous job Dear Leader Bronco Bama as done:

-43 months of 8%+ unemployment
-16.2 trillion dollars in DEBT
-Al Qaeda is ALIVE
-Ambassador DEAD
-47 million on FOOD STAMPS
-MILLIONS left the labor force
-Grocery prices up 15%
-Income down 8.2%
-Gasoline prices up 250%
-Benghazi cover up.
-Fast n Furious cover up
-Billions in fraudulent "green" projects

And how about the other wonderful things the Democrats have achieved over the years:

The Democrat Party

-Fought for slavery
-Began the Civil War
-Founded the Ku Klux Klan
-Created Jim Crow
-Levied poll taxes
-Fought against Civil Rights
-Insured Japanese internment

The Democrats have been working to keep blacks and others down for 250 years!! Woo-hoo! Thank you Democrats!

Re: Swinger "the Democrats destroyed economy, etc..."

Their history damns them- "Slavery, the Klu Klux Clan, Jim Crow, Poll tax, Opposition to Civil Rights, etc." it's all there plain as day, all you need to do is look up the facts.

For the Dems (short for Demagogues) to claim to be the "Peoples Party" would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

"By their Fruits Shall Ye Know Them", Jesus said to his followers in Mathew 7:16 and I think that comes much closer to understanding the current political situation than anything said by any of the pundits.

"By their Fruits shall Ye know them". In other words, look at what people, or a political party have done over their entire history and not what they tell you to win an election.

"Slavery, the Klu Klux Klan, Jim Crow, the Poll Tax, Opposition to Civil Rights", Yep, By their Fruits Shall Ye Know them.

In a few of these posts I heard Obama (and his Administration) compared to shoes, comfortable, not comfortable, well-worn, etc. or otherwise.

Actually, about the only type of footwear that I would compare the Obama Presidency too, would be a pair of hiking boots, sold as being weatherproof and rugged - completely waterproof, you know- , well, guess what, the first time you wore them and got caught in the rain- they fell apart: they were made out of cardboard.

Or a pair of penny loafers, only instead of a penny you got an IOU note printed in Chinese.
