YOUNGSTOWN — A jury awarded a Boardman woman $42.8 million in total damages in a civil suit against her former employer Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. of Columbus.
Christine Lucarell sued the insurance giant in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, alleging Nationwide enrolled her in an agency executive program, then withheld financing from her agency and made her working conditions so intolerable that she was forced to quit.
The case was heard before visiting Judge Thomas J. Pokorny. Lucarell was in tears after hearing the jury’s damage awards.
The eight-member, all-male jury spent two weeks listening to evidence in the case before returning a finding in Lucarell's favor this afternoon.

She must have been really cute since it was an all-male jury.
42.8 MILLION?????????
Thats way out of hand.
do you think they will actualy get it
we need betras to explain this one and whats the eta on payment
how could such an extreme amount be found
It is truly sad that people who are not familiar with what happened here or the other 400 agents across the country are assuming and making these comments. Until you walk in the shoes that I have walked in and fought for 3 1/2 years to tell the jurors what happened, please refrain from assuming. I pray for justice for all of the remaining former agents that put their lives into their agencies to have it taken from them and I pray for their families.
how did you put your life into it for starters and isint that more money than she would have ever made working till she died or her kids even died im just saying compensation is just but shes going to get nothing due to the amount of the judgment its unfair to her and her family for the many years of suits to follow just to get something they will never pay that to her ppl go inc and llc for a reason i think the 8 men screwed her just like nationwide did
no one is saying hard work wasnt put in but ppl fail every day its a part of our life economy and government
Not having seen the actual judgment and individual damage amounts one can safely conclude that the jury was not happy with how Nationwide behaved in this case and they were trying to send a message. Kudos to the plaintiff in this case.
I love how people here jump to conclusions without hearing the little things, like.......FACTS & EVIDENCE!!
It's incredible that anyone could form an opinion from an article this brief or expect a reply to comments that contain mis-spellings and poor grammar.
Shame shame on that all male jury. There is no way she deserved 43 million, she could of never earned that in 40 life times and, residents of this area who know this person know full well neither she nor her family have suffered financially. Nice home, well furnished, and all the luxuries of life. Shame shame on the jury!

Is that the 47% ?
i was a customer of hers and i must say nationwide should sue her for the bad name that she gave them i didnt even know who she was because she was never at work to handle her business and there is no schooling or financial backing that teaches you the basic need to go to work to make it work
poor business decision not nationwide she lost her rental property due to the fact she took the rent and forgot to pay the mortgage i belive its a bad buisness decision i feel bad for her renters who lost there security deposit and home i hope they sue her for damages and losses
Jimmy - I'm tired of your offensive, slanderous comments about this person! I have known this family for years and you keep posting vicious lies out of spite and/or jealousy. None of what you have said is true and you know it. Thank God for the justice system and jurors deciding cases on facts and evidence! I also know what you posted about this so called rental home to be a lie as well. The person that lived there never paid a deposit and was asked to move several times but didn't want to. If you keep it up, I hope she sues YOU for these outrageous lies. It is obvious you created this account to attack her since all of your comments are to her. Jealousy is ugly and you are plain sickening! Crawl back in the hole you slithered out of and get a life! The same goes for this Parker person who obviously created an account for this. You must be friends and since I see this family quite often, I know they don't have a life of luxury but I hope they will now!
