Eagle Scout

Michael P. Hritz, son of Michael and Suzanne Hritz of Salem, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank offered by the Boy Scouts of America. His court-of-honor ceremony was at St. Paul Church.

Hritz has been a member of Troop 6 at St. Paul Church since 2006. He has attained 26 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. His awards include fifth-year Pipestone, third-year Polar Bear, third-year Heritage, and first-year First Class. He was a mile-swim participant at the Seven Ranges Scout Reservation. He attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2009 and the National Boy Scout Jamboree 100th Anniversary in Fort A.P. Hill, Va., in 2010.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Hritz painted and repaired the interior walls of the offices, conference room, and main hallway of the Habitat for Humanity office, 468 Prospect St., Salem. He also has assembled and hung collages of many families in their new Habitat for Humanity homes in his years of working with the organization.

Hritz is a member of the church and is a senior at Salem High School.
