Club Pet sponsors benefit event
Club Pet of Transfer, Pa., a nonprofit, no-kill, all-volunteer rescue, will benefit from a fundraiser from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Golden Corral, Route 18. The restaurant will donate $1 to Club Pet for each dinner bought during those hours. More than 100 gift baskets will be auctioned.
Library will host informational meeting
Moses Hassan Mahdee is inviting the public to meet with him from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at Newport Library, 3730 Market St.
He will present excerpts from his presentation for Black History Month’s Small Business Exposition scheduled for February 2013. Questions and suggestions are welcome. For information call Mahdee at 330-788-6308.
Salem library sponsors bubble guy, Mr. Zap
Salem Public Library is sponsoring the bubble guy at 11 a.m. Nov. 10. Mr. Zap will demonstrate lots of interesting things that can be done with bubbles, including putting people inside them. The free program is for families with children under age 12.

Help raise funds for community activities
A Dine to Donate event is planned for Poland Junior Women’s Club. To participate, visit www.pjwc.org and print out the Dine to Donate flyer. Then present it at Applebee’s, 6691 South Ave., Boardman, from 11 a.m. to closing Nov. 10. The club will receive 10 percent of your total bill (minus alcohol and gratuity) Takeout orders are included.
Funds raised will allow the club to keep Poland community activities such as the Halloween Carnival, Lighting of the Village, college scholarships and summer concerts.
