The YWCA of Warren and Catholic Charities will host a free earned- income tax credit training workshop from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at YWCA Warren, 375 N. Park Ave.
Free materials, including a tax-credit outreach kit and certificate of completion, will be provided.
The Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credit are federal tax benefits for low- and moderate-wage workers.
This year, the EIC is worth up to $5,751, and the CTC can provide working families up to $1,000 per child.
Many eligible workers may miss out on these credits because they are not aware that they qualify, do not know how to claim them, or do not know where to find free tax-filing assistance.
Speakers are Kathy Sandella of Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County, Dana Goldstein of Legal Aid, Russell Allen of Ohio Benefits Bank and Ariane Redd of the Internal Revenue Service.
They will share information on eligibility for EIC and CTC, where to find free tax-filing assistance and the impact and importance of a community tax-credit outreach campaign.
A continental breakfast will be served.
Attendance for the event is free, but guests must RSVP by Monday.
Reservations will be accepted by mail at YWCA Warren, 375 N. Park Ave., Warren, OH 44481; by fax at 330-393-6483; by phone at 330-373-1010; or by emailing Kavon Wright at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reservations must include name, agency, address, telephone and email address.
