METRO DIGEST || Road closings for YSU parade

Road closings


Several downtown streets will be closed Saturday for the Youngstown State University Homecoming Parade.

The streets are: Wood Street from Hazel Street to Fifth Avenue, closed 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local traffic permitted until noon.

Hazel Street from Commerce to Wood streets, closed 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Elm Street from Wood to Rayen Avenue, closed 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Eastbound Service Road from Fifth Avenue to Elm Street will be affected as the parade progresses. Both northbound and southbound lanes will be used from Lincoln to Eastbound Service Road.

Auction planned


The first auction at “Stuff... a spectacular resale mall” is set for noon Saturday with a 10 a.m. preview.

The resale mall is 25,000 square feet and features more than 50 vendors, one of whom is Jolie Paul at Phoenix Auction Gallery.

Other vendors are offering collectibles, antiques, primitives, eclectic items, glassware, furniture, toys, political memorabilia and sport cards, among other items.

The resale mall, 11734 South Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and is in the former Giant Eagle at the corner of state Routes 7 and 164.

Coitsville trustees


Coitsville Township trustees will have a work-study session at 9 a.m. today at the township administration building, 3711 McCartney Road.

Health fair set


Windsor House at Liberty Health Care Center, 1355 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, is hosting an “Elect to Improve Your Health” fair from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The fair will be set up in the new short-term rehabilitation unit and will feature inpatient and outpatient therapy options, assisted- living services, tips on maintaining a healthy diet, guidance on preventing falls, diabetic foot care and preventing wounds, understanding Medicare and Medicaid, free blood-pressure checks, additional health screenings and tours of the new rehabilitation unit.
