Paul Ryan to cap off campaign in Vienna

Published: Fri, November 2, 2012 @ 12:08 a.m.

VP nominee plans Monday night stop at regional airport

By David Skolnick

The last campaign stop for Paul Ryan, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, before Tuesday’s election is a rally at Winner Aviation at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna Township.

Ryan, a congressman from Janesville, Wis., starts Monday, the day before the general election, campaigning in Reno, Nev., makes additional stops — though none has been announced yet — and finishes with an evening rally at the airport in Vienna.

“It’s remarkable to think that the campaign recognizes the importance of the Mahoning Valley to make it [Ryan’s] final campaign stop,” said Mahoning County Republican Party Chairman Mark Munroe. “It’s the climax of a two-year campaign.”

The doors will open at 6:45 p.m. with the program starting at 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Tickets can be picked up at the Mitt Romney/Ryan Victory Center office in the Great East Plaza in Niles or by going online to mittromney.com/oh.

Mahoning and Trumbull counties are longtime Democratic strongholds.

But Republicans are looking to keep the Democratic ticket of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden under 60 percent of the vote in those two counties. The last time that happened was in 1984 when Republican Ronald Reagan cruised to an easy re-election victory over Democrat Walter Mondale.

Monday will be Ryan’s third campaign stop in the area.

Ryan made an unannounced stop at the Hot Dog Shoppe in Warren on Aug. 16.

He had a town-hall meeting Oct. 13 at Youngstown State University, followed by an unannounced stop at the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s soup kitchen in downtown Youngstown that attracted national headlines when Ryan, accompanied by his family, cleaned a few pots and pans that were left dirty at the request of his campaign as part of a photo opportunity.

The lone visit of Romney, the Republican presidential nominee, was in Youngstown on March 5, the day before he won a close GOP primary in Ohio.

Biden has campaigned in the Valley three times, most recently Monday at Youngstown’s Covelli Centre with former President Bill Clinton. Biden was filling in for Obama, who canceled his appearance to monitor superstorm Sandy. Obama campaigned once this year in the Valley.

Also, Speaker of the House John Boehner will stop Sunday in Niles and Lisbon as part of a three-day, 13-city bus tour through Ohio in support of Romney and Ryan, as well as Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, the party’s U.S. Senate candidate, and Republicans running for Congress.

Boehner is scheduled to be at Romney’s campaign office in the Great East Plaza, near Eastwood Mall in Niles, at 4:30 p.m. and in Lisbon’s town square at the intersection of Market Street and Lincoln Way at 6 p.m. Sunday. The tour starts Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wesley Clark, a retired four-star general and former NATO supreme allied commander for Europe as well as a 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, will campaign on behalf of Obama at noon today at Youngstown State University.

Joining Clark will be U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th; ex-U.S. Rep. John Boccieri, an Air Force Reserves lieutenant colonel; and former Ohio Senate President Harry Meshel, a World War II veteran.

It is very nice to hear NY Mayor Bloomberg endorsing PRESIDENT OBAMA. It seems even mayor Bloomberg knows willard flipflops too much.

"At the same time, Mr. Bloomberg said he might have endorsed Mr. Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, except for the fact that the Republican had abandoned positions that he once publicly held.

Bloomberg says:
“In the past he has taken sensible positions on immigration, illegal guns, abortion rights and health care — but he has reversed course on all of them, and is even running against the very health care model he signed into law in Massachusetts,” the mayor said of Mr. Romney. ""

Coming on the heels of Gov. Chris Christie’s public embrace of Mr. Obama, the endorsement by Mr. Bloomberg left aides to Mr. Romney a bit flustered, and they privately dismissed its importance.

George W Bush sighting.............

George Bush is in Cayman Islands talking about tax haven investments.

While the last Democratic president, Bill Clinton, is on the campaign trail speaking at rallies on behalf of Barack Obama, the last Republican president, George W. Bush, has been missing in action totally this election. He surfaced today, however, in the Cayman Islands where he is delivering the keynote address at a private “investment” conference.

The press is locked out. A spokesman for the Cayman Alternative Investment Summit says the speech is totally closed to all journalists. Spokesman Dan Kneipp says he is not even permitted to discuss the subject of Bush's speech scheduled for Thursday evening at the Ritz-Carlton. Attendees are paying $4,000 each to get advice at this “investment” seminar. Sponsors include KPMG, a company that provides tax advisory services, and Deutsche Bank.

What is the conference about? It is about the benefits of using the Cayman Islands to shelter income in order to avoid paying U.S. taxes. How did George Bush become an expert on the subject? Perhaps Mitt Romney gave him some tips.

Just when Romney thought that whole business about his avoiding taxes in offshore accounts was forgotten, George Bush put it all front and center again.

Romney knows all about Cayman tax shelters. According to MSNBC, he has invested over $8 million of is money in at least 12 funds listed on the Cayman Islands Registry. He has another fund there with between $5 million and $25 million invested in that one.

Romney’s old company Bain Capital has over 138 investments in the Cayman Islands, and they have over 40 secret off show accounts in the Caymans. The Cayman Islands tourism video touts the advantages to investing in the island.

Mitt Romney only released tax returns for two years. They showed that he paid an average of 14% of his income in federal taxes. That is lower than most Americans. Why is his rate so low? In large part because of off-shore accounts in tax havens like the Caymans. The fact that he refuses to release more returns shows that he is hiding something. Oh if we would just hear what George Bush is saying.

Romney has had a hard time relating to the average American because they do not have Swiss Bank accounts and investments in the Cayman Islands. He has been on a make-over since the debates trying to act like a common guy. Bush’s speech today will bring the subject of off shore tax shelters up again just before the election. Democrats are thanking Mr. Bush.

The simple fact is that Mitt Romney pays the 15% rate on dividends which is the same rate all Americans pay even Obama billionaiire supporters Waren Buffett and George Soros.

Many people erroneously think that overseas investments hide income and avoid taxes, but most retirement plans have such investments.Again look at Obama billionaiire supporters Waren Buffett and George Soros

If Romney didn't pay his taxes you can bet that the Obama run IRS would have filed liens to discredit him and his returns.

Real change will be here in 4 days

Great Posts #s 1, 2, and 3!

Evident, NOBODY can trust Romney. Very sneaky, sly, dishonest, and ultimately unpredictable. This guy will do anything, say anything, just like Gov. Kasich. Now, Mayor Bloomberg says Romney has reversed course on many positions. Cannot count on him. Gov. Chris Christie says he is 'not even interested in Romney'! George Bush is BANNED from the arena!
Romney is horrified and appalled at George Bush right now on Cayman Investment Summit. ...BAD Timing...this is getting worse and worse has TROUBLE written all over it.

Ryan? What crazy tactic will he resort for another instructional photo-op, (wash and dry airplanes in the hangar, at midnight?)be sure to tell him his actions are inappropriate and unacceptable...and be firm. We will not adhere to manipulation!

For all of you complaining about Romney's tax rate, a couple simple facts:

1. There have been no statements, suggestions or even lies that Romney has done anything illegal.

2. No one seems to complain about Romney giving away nearly 1/2 of his income. Note Bill and Linda Gates initiative to get the very wealthy to donate one-half of thier wealth to charity when they die. Romney is giving away one-half of his income while he is living.

3. The argument that he must be hiding something because he only gave two years of tax returns is a buch of garbage. Why should he give facts of his life away that are only going to be twisted and misrepresented to the voting public by the opposition.

4. Look at what Candidate Romney has done in his personal life. He has met challenges and resolved them. His personal contribtutions show him to be a generous man. His position in his Church shows him to have a spiritual commitment.

If he is half as successful in the White House, as he has been in his personal life, the United States, and everyone inside it borders will better off, and for a lot longer than just the next four years.

AAC The way I see it, Blomberg is only ONE vote . While there are thousands of people who have to wait for FEMA to get to them while Bloomberg has his little run. The people of Staten Island are PO"d at BO. So there are many more votes for Romney then you think. As far as Gov;t Christie he should be D party member he know how to suck up to people to get things for FREE too.

Bloomberg is a Dem. It's no wonder a Dem votes for a Dem.

As for Christy embracing Obama. What would you do? The Jersey Shore has been devasted & is going to cost billions to restore. Christy needs dollars & what a better place to get funds from.

As for Powell, he is a black man. In 2008, 94% of blacks voted for Obama. What else would you expect?

This is for you MSNBC lovers:

Perhaps Romney was actually on to something about MSNBC. The Pew Research Center just released a study showing that 71 percent of the network’s coverage of him was negative between Aug. 27 and Oct. 21. By contrast Fox News's coverage of President Barack Obama was negative 46 percent of the time.

For those of you who do not understand the difference between earned income and taxable income: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/What-i...

Consider this: Your retirement money is taxable income not earned income. You've already earned that money, paid taxes on that money and saved it. You invest it and hopefully make it grow. When you begin living off it, you will be taxed at the lower taxable income rate. Democrats want you to believe that this is "unfair". Would you rather raise that rate & be taxed according to earned income...I think not.

Here is a sample of the devious, unethical,

law breaking acts that this administration will go to. Obama & his

people are corrupt without honesty or an ounce of integrity. Obama &

company will lie, cheat and steal, those actions are taken against ALL

Americans. By the way the 4th. to last sentence says it all, the American

people (government-that is us tax payers) will pay the severance packages.

These guys cannot do anything above board !

Subject: Fw: Lockheed

This is absolutely

spot on true, check it out yourself Google " Lockheed pending

Keep this going and lets try to sway

a few more voters and try to avoid

the calamity that awaits us if this clown gets another [4] years

to serve up his koolaid

Lockheed Martin had planned to lay

off 123,000 defense workers on Jan

due to the sequestration law.

The law requires Lockheed to give 60-day
notice to all to-be-fired employees within 60 days.

That drop dead date
would be November 1st. Since this would be bad

for the election.

Obama has promised that our government would cover all Lockheed

severance packages to fired employees if Lockheed would not release

the names and locations of

those losing their jobs until after

the election!
Send this to all you know since this may not show up in the news. This posting is

from a defense contract newspaper called The Hill. This is blatantly

against the law.

The cost of natural gas is low as a direct result of fracking and resulting overproduction. Market forces friend. All you nutjob lefties rail against capitalism and exploitation of resources but you cannot wait to revel in the fruits of it. You lefties are pathetically stupid scumbags. Read for yourself...

"Fracking was once a small part of the natural gas industry, a technique to get hard-to-reach deposits in underground shale. Then the technology improved, and the dinner bell rang. Everybody wanted in. Now there's so much gas on the market that the price is at a 10-year low."

From NPR nonetheless!
