When Greenwood Chevrolet employee Kevin Juillerat suffered from a stroke in August, his coworkers banded together and decided to assist their friend. They held a fundraiser at Don Victor’s Restaurant located at 4626 Mahoning Ave. Oct. 21 to raise money for Kevin’s medical bills.
“Here at Greenwood Chevrolet, we’re a family. We always help our coworkers. We got together because everybody is going to have their time when they’re in need. I look at it this way — we’re all very blessed and when God blesses us, it’s our responsibility to help others. The donations were overwhelming. I’ve done this for over 25 years and I’ve never seen so many people give so much,” said Greenwood Chevrolet Advertising and Marketing Director Teri Simon.
Coworkers sold meals for $25 each and participants were also entered to win a variety of prizes during a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction. Some grand prizes included a 32-inch flat-screen TV, a hot air balloon ride and even tickets to watch the Cleveland Cavaliers. While people enjoyed food, they also were happy to help a good cause and Kevin’s wife, Jennifer, was grateful for the support of neighbors and friends.
“It’s fabulous. People’s hearts are so big. The generosity of our friends and family is so unbelievable. My husband is a strong man and he’s really determined to get back to himself as much as he can. We just want to thank anyone who helped us in any way,” Jennifer said.
