WASHINGTON

A Virginia company is recalling 1,440 pounds of chicken after a labeling error.

Perdue Foods of Bridgewater, Va., is recalling packages of original chicken breast nuggets because of allergy concerns after milk was omitted from the label, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The 12-ounce tray packs have the establishment number “P .369” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a sell-by date of Dec. 16, 2012.

According to a press release, the chicken was distributed to stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

For more information, contact the USDA meat and poultry hotline at 1-888-674-6854.
