LORDSTOWN — October sales of the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze are 34 percent higher than last year, according to a release this morning from General Motors.
Cruze sales were part of an overall increase in the mini-, small- and compact-car segment, which GM is reporting has increased by 72 percent over last October’s figures.
Overall, there were 19,121 Cruzes sold in October, nearly 5,000 more than the 14,295 sold in October 2011.
For the year, sales there have been 199,721 Cruzes sold, which is 1 percent behind last year’s pace.
Earlier in the year, sales lagged behind the 2011 totals, but the last two months have been among the best selling in the vehicle’s history, GM officials said.
