Mother of Warren autistic boy reports second harassment complaint

Published: Wed, May 2, 2012 @ 12:30 p.m.

WARREN — The mother of an autistic 7-year-old boy attending Warren’s Jefferson K-8 School has reported a second incident in less than a week involving the behavior of a fellow student at the end of the school day.

Vanessa White of Charles Avenue Northeast first reported on Friday her son was assaulted as he was walking to the school bus.

The boy said another student pushed the boy in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground, then punched him in the eye five times and kicked him in the hip.

The boy was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital and had swelling, redness and bruising on his eye, police said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the 7-year-old reported another boy on the school bus said he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot the boy because the victim had gotten his friend into trouble over Friday’s incident.

Aaron Schwab, spokesman for the school district, said the two incidents are being investigated, and the district has been in contact with the boy’s mother.

“The district takes all reports of violence or harassment very seriously, and all students found to be involved with causing harm to or harassing another student will be punished,” Schwab said.

At some point the school actually plans to do something other thaninvestigate, don't they? Operation Dilly-Dally isn't keeping this kid from being picked on.

I dont understand why she keeps the boy in the school, let alone on the bus...Take him to a special needs school, or online school or something...at least until this investigation is over and done with...good grief.

The lied to her and told her everything would be alright.That is why she tried it again.This little ghetto rat threatens to shoot him first day back. Typical ghetto upbringing that the school is afraid to handle.

@danikytn:

those options cost money.

the parents should be able to rely on their school administrators and faculty to keep things in line and prevent these incidents.

if it's not resolved soon, they should sue the district for the cost of attending a school that is actually attentive to his education and safety.

Where is the outrage from the parents of the bullies? If it was my child threatening a disabled child I would grab the nearest belt and beat his hide black and purple. I have three boys and my middle is Language Expressive Disorder. If anyone ever picked on him, God help what the other two would do to the offender! Some parents are just destined to breed ignorant swine who grow to do nothing but cause trouble in this world.

the mother should not need to remove hr child from the school. autistic or not the child should be safe to attend any school if the child is being abused the teachers or others in charge are not doing there job.I no an adult female whom is going through neglect at work and yet theses are adults not children. some people dont care to treat vulnerable people with the same respects and ddscenty as they do others. if the child wants to stay there and the mother moves him or her its making it look like the problem is the child and thts not the case.
