WARREN — The mother of an autistic 7-year-old boy attending Warren’s Jefferson K-8 School has reported a second incident in less than a week involving the behavior of a fellow student at the end of the school day.
Vanessa White of Charles Avenue Northeast first reported on Friday her son was assaulted as he was walking to the school bus.
The boy said another student pushed the boy in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground, then punched him in the eye five times and kicked him in the hip.
The boy was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital and had swelling, redness and bruising on his eye, police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, the 7-year-old reported another boy on the school bus said he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot the boy because the victim had gotten his friend into trouble over Friday’s incident.
Aaron Schwab, spokesman for the school district, said the two incidents are being investigated, and the district has been in contact with the boy’s mother.
“The district takes all reports of violence or harassment very seriously, and all students found to be involved with causing harm to or harassing another student will be punished,” Schwab said.
