FOOD SALES AND DINNERS

WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will serve a baked chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. Cost is $6.50, and containers will be available for takeout orders. No reservations are necessary. For takeouts call the church at 330-743-3175.

Canfield Christian Church, 123 S. Broad St., will serve a free Lenten breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Wednesday through April 4. Freewill offerings will be accepted, and a senior stretch will follow the breakfast. For information call 330-533-2246.

Pricetown United Methodist Church will serve a home-cooked supper from 5 to 6:30 today. It will feature meatloaf, potatoes, vegetable, salad, roll, homemade desserts and a beverage. The church is at 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls. Prices are $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under. Carryouts will be available.

THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will have takeout dinners available from 3:30 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Drive to the front of the church, and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will sell takeout dinners of beef tips and noodles from 3:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The cost is $7. FRIDAY

American Legion Post 737, 16465 Milton Ave., Lake Milton, will serve the following meals from 3 to 7 p.m.: fried fish (all you can eat, fish only), chicken, or shrimp. Each meal is $8 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and free for those 3 and under. A fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw is $5.50. For carryouts call (330) 654-5630. Argus Lodge 545, 5050 Shields Road, Canfield, will have a fish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Carryout is available; call 330-533-3077.

Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, 14480 Washingtonville Road, Washingtonville, will have fish and shrimp dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays through April 6. The cost is $9 for a fish dinner or $8 for a shrimp dinner. Carryouts are available.

Canfield Lions will sponsor a fish dinner Fridays during Lent. The meal will be served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Cost is $10. Takeout will be available; call 330-533-0363.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge, will serve fish dinners from 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent through March 30. Dinners cost $8 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts are available.

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Containers are provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders are accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528, and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, will have a Lenten fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. . The cost is $9.95. Children’s dinners also are available. For takeouts call ahead at 330-270-0650 between 4 and 7 p.m.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. LIpkey Road, North Jackson, will serve fish dinners every Friday during Lent, except Good Friday. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children. For information call 330-538-3351. Carryouts will be available.

Poland Masonic Lodge 766, F.&A.M., will serve fish meals for $9 from 4:30 to 6:30 Fridays through Lent. Meals consist of haddock with Jo-Jo fries and a roll and butter, and they are for takeout only. The Lodge is at 7685 Youngstown Pittsburgh Road, (Route 170, south of Poland, next to the school).

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will sell pizza and other Italian treats. Orders are to be called to 330-746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

St. Brendan Church, 144 N. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays through March 30 in the church hall. There will be a choice of beer batter, fried, baked or cajun-style fish. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. An extra piece of fish is $5, and extra sides are $2 or $3. Luncheon specials from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. are takeout only and include a dinner for $9 or a sandwich and side for $6. For takeout orders call 330-799-3683.

St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, is having a Lenten Seafood Fest from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays through April 6. Choices are lightly breaded fried haddock, Greek baked fish plaki, seafood pastisio, crab or spinach roll-ups wrapped in phyllo, calamari, smelts and french fries, Greek pastries and breads. St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

St. Maron Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent in Antioch Hall (adjacent to the church). There will be fried or baked haddock, fried shrimp, breaded fried scallops or fried smelt dinners for $9. Tuna steak dinners are available for $11. A la carte items and takeouts also will be available.

St. Patrick Church, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard, will serve fish dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays through March 30 in the church hall. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children. There will be baked or fried haddock or Italian-style fish. There also will be fantail shrimp dinners for $7 and pirogi, haluski, macaroni and cheese or ravioli dinners for $6. Carryouts are available; call ahead after 3 p.m. to 330-534-4219.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $4.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; walk-in orders will be available. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

St. Thomas the Apostle Church, formerly St. Vincent de Paul, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent through March 30; takeout service starts at 3 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12. Those 5 and under eat free.

Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, will serve a Lenten fish dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays during Lent through April 6 in the church hall. The cost is $8.50 for adults and $5 for children. Carryouts are available. For information call the church office at 330-743-1905. Stations of the Cross will be said at 4:30 p.m. on Fridays during Lent.

VFW Triangle Post 2799 Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will have a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent. Donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.

SATURDAY

Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel Ave., N.W., Warren, will have a benefit dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. The meal includes a baked potato bar, shepherd’s pie, hot dogs with cheese, meat sauce or kraut, coleslaw, dessert and a beverage. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 5-10. Children under 5 eat free. Proceeds will benefit Harrison Bates, a Warren City Schools student and church member, who will travel to the British Isles this summer as a youth ambassador for People to People.

St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, will serve corned beef and cabbage dinners from 3 to 7 p.m. The cost for adults is $12. Children 12 and under are $6. Reservations are needed by Thursday and can be made at 330-792-5414, 330-270-9056 or 330-799-0914.

SUNDAY

American Legion Southington Post, 3145 Warren-Burton Road, will have a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are $6.50 for adults and $4 for children 5-11; those under 4 are free. There will be all-you-can-eat pancakes served with sausage, or biscuits and gravy.

Burton-Middlefield Rotary will serve pancake breakfasts from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sundays in March at Berkshire High School, 14510 N. Cheshire St., Burton, Ohio. The price is $8 for adults and $5 for children 4 to 10. An omelet can be added for an additional $3. Proceeds benefit local and international Rotary projects.

Fowler Volunteer Fire Department, 3386 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, state Route 193, will have its monthly pancake, sausage and egg breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the station. Prices are $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $4 for children 6 to 12, and free for preschoolers.

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., is having a ham dinner from noon to 2 p.m., sponsored by the Men’s Organization. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit mission projects. For information call 330-876-4485.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve breakfasts of eggs, sausage or ham, hash browns, pancakes or french toast, toast, and coffee or tea from 8 a.m. to noon. Meals are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve pork and kraut dinners from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $8.75 for adults and $5 for children and includes dessert and a beverage. The public is welcome. Takeouts will be available.

St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will have an all-you-can-eat Irish buffet at noon in Colonial Hall. The buffet selection includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, baked ham, green beans, peas and carrots, applesauce, pumpernickel bread, dessert and a beverage. Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St., Youngstown, is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 25. The cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Proceeds benefit the church repair fund, installation of the elevator and restoration of the stained glass windows.

Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, will serve stuffed cabbage dinners from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the church hall. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children. Mahoning United Methodist Church, 2214 Mahoning Ave., will sell stuffed cabbage rolls from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until sold out) every Tuesday for $1.50 each. To order call 330-799-5318 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome, but advance orders are appreciated.

TAKING ORDERS

Happy Hearts Jr. Croatian Tamburitzans are taking orders for apple and cheese strudel through March 23. All strudels are homemade and are sold frozen, ready to bake, along with baking instructions. Holy Trinity Orthodox Christian Academy and Preschool in Warren is taking orders for Easter kolachi and baklava through March 28. Kolachi rolls are $10 each and varieties are nut, apricot and poppyseed. Greek baklava is $35 for a half sheet, $70 for a full sheet. Orders can be placed by calling 330-399-7642, or faxed to 330-286-0232. Pickup will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 2 at St. Nicholas Church, 2053 North Road, Warren.

Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio is taking orders for stuffed cabbage rolls through March 23. The price is $18 per dozen (uncooked) and includes a recipe and extra shredded cabbage. Pickup will be from 2 to 6 p.m. March 27 at St. John Byzantine Church, 36125 Aurora Road, Solon, Ohio. Simon Road Church of God, 4750 Simon Road, Boardman, will accept orders for kolachi through Sunday. Varieties are nut, apricot, poppy and prune. The cost for each is $8. St. Anne Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, is taking orders for poppyseed, nut, apricot and nut with raisin kolachi for Easter. The cost is $11 each. Sales are limited to the first 300 orders, and pickup will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 24. Orders also are being taken for Easter bread with raisins. Cost is $8 each. Sales are limited to the first 100 orders, and pickup will be from 5 to 6 p.m. March 31. Charlene Bury is taking orders for both items at 330-519-5311.

St. John the Baptist Church, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell, will accept orders for homemade haluski from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at 330-755-0036 or 330-755-4141. The donation is $5 per quart. Pickup is March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon in the church hall.

The Ladies Guild of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church, 120 Maple Drive, Newton Falls, is taking orders for homemade kolachi. The fillings are apricot, nut and poppy seed and the cost for each is $9. St. Lucy Church, 397 Tenney Ave., Campbell, is taking orders for Easter Bread through Sunday March 25. The cost is $8.50 for a 2-pound loaf, and choices are plain or raisin, iced or not iced. Youngstown American- Hungarian Club is taking orders for Hungarian dobos torta through March 23 at 330-799-7008. The cost is $35 for a whole cake and $20 for a half.

UPCOMING

Rotary Club of Warren will host its annual pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 25 at Lincoln K-8 School, 2253 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. Tickets cost $6 and include all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit and a beverage. Children 5 and under are free. There also will be a bake sale and a 50-50 raffle. Tickets can be purchased in advance from any club member or at the door. All proceeds will benefit local charities.

St. Luke Church, 348 Robbins Ave., Niles, will be sponsoring a Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. March 24. Meals include mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce and homemade desserts. The cost for adults is $9, for children 6 through 10 it’s $4, and for children 5 and under it’s free. For tickets call Barb Bissell at 330-652-9490 or call the church at 330-652-2952.
