The Rayen Stadium field will be named the Jack Antonucci Field after a $100,000 donation by John and Marsha Antonucci in honor of John's father, Jack.
The announcement was made tonight at a Youngstown board of education meeting.

Hope I can get out of this area alive Stadium
Somebody please tell me: WHY was this huge waste of money necessary?
Old. To answer your dumb question. It's a sports facility where some kids who don't want to get caught up the the street life can learn a few things other than selling drugs and killing people. None of the money is coming out of your pocket in the way of tax dollars its all donations. So if you think its a waste of money don't contribute, otherwise keep your comments to your self.
It is a great way for the 1%ers to use these inkind donations as a tax shelter. Give $ and have your accountant take care of the tax write off. Yes, it is being constructed through gifts and donations. Ultimately the local tax payers will have to foot the bill for maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Has the BOE come up with a yearly figure for this? Will they hire a full time maintenance employee at the facility? Security costs and what not are going to add up. It may be nice now but give it a few years and see where it is...
theguins,
Compare that to the cost of renting Stambaugh Stadium. Youngstown City Schools can no longer afford to do that and it's straining Ursuline and Mooney.
The first game at Antonucci field will be East vs. Ursuline: two teams that haven't had a home field in a decade.
