YOUNGSTOWN — Efforts to offer more things to do in downtown Youngstown were dealt a blow today as Buffalo Wild Wings announced June 22 will be last day for the Federal Plaza location.
The location will not remain empty long term. Another restaurant group will move into the space immediately after the closing, according to a statement from Doug Esenwein, regional manager for Buffalo Wild Wings in the Youngstown market.
“In recent years, it became clear that we were not going to be able to upgrade the restaurant, in the current facility, to today’s brand facility standards. We are proud of not only the success we’ve enjoyed over the years, but the community connections that we’ve made,” Esenwein said.
“The business environment in Downtown Youngstown is more vibrant now than ever before. We are very happy to have helped to ensure that another restaurant operator would take over quickly. Also, employees and managers will be retained by either the new restaurant, or one of the other BWW locations.”
The downtown location will close with the Party on the Plaza, an annual event the location has hosted. The new ownership group plans to continue the tradition of the Party on the Plaza, Esenwein said.

Cmon, who in their right mind would believe this r regional manager If the business was doing so good in the bad economic times for restaurants, surely they could have found another spot in that beauriful downtown. No way rhey give up a money making location just because it does not go along with their business model.
