YOUNGSTOWN — Police said today they are looking for a 26-year-old Youngstown man they suspect killed Dion Weatherspoon, the city’s 15th homicide victim of the year.
At a news conference today, police said they have witnesses who said they saw Walter Drake of Hilton Avenue shoot Weatherspoon, 24, a neighbor, outside Drake’s house Wednesday.
Police said today the shooting started as a neighborhood argument over other issues, possibly a theft.
Police found Weatherspoon lying dead in the driveway of Drake’s home on the South Side about 11:30 a.m. He had six bullet holes in him, according to police.
The house where Weatherspoon was killed, where Drake lived at 246 Hilton Ave., was significantly damaged by arson about 11 p.m. Thursday, said Fire Capt. Alvin Ware, chief fire investigator.
“We suspect it’s connected to the shooting,” Ware said.

Let's here it for the witnesses who came forward. Excellent job.
What a gross group of people.
he is a good kid. working on his ged and trying to support his six children by 4 different mothers. someone call betraaas. i smell a lawsuit over x-box. what else would a hilton ave resident want to steal ? sue microsoft for making such a popular game that it leads to murder.
I hope he's hiding like a scared rabid animal. Useless human garbage. They act so tough behind a gun pitiful cockroach.
It is really sad to see this type of violence going on in our old neighborhoods. I can remember as a kid, walking with my brother to the corner store for an ice cream bar and candy. Everyone's houses were well kept and everyone had one car in the drive.
Now that we have moved on and left the homes for others to enjoy, we get blamed for the mess growing in the city.
I guess they will be raising our taxes to fund deputies for help in patrolling the cities now. Just like in L.A., California.
