YSU trustees committee OKs 3.5 percent tuition hikes

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s trustees’ finance and facilities committee today approved a 3.5 percent tuition increase, effective in the fall.

The increase will cost undergraduates about $130 more per semester. The measure next goes before the full trustees board, which is expected to vote at a meeting next week.

Additionally, a transportation fee has been deferred for next year, but the parking fee will increase by $20 to $120.

They must need another million dollar study done on how to cross the street. Or is a 3.5 pay raise on the horizon

Who's on this YSU committee that continues to rape the students with higher tuition, parking, fees and books. And what about the extra charge for using a credit card. I'm surprised you don't charge them a utility fee for running the a/c. You people at YSU are bunch of greedy selfish bast__'s. That goes for the president to the trustees to the faculty and all the other parasites. You just spend money and give out raises like there is no tomorrow. People have been hit hard in the private sector these past 4 years. How can you justify raises and spending money on that Wick-Pollock House. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Quit feeding off me.

this college is nothing but a complete rip off. with faculty members guidance, my son went to this school for a year, only to find out when scheduling classes for the next semister that he was given incorrect info and NONE of the classes he took were required. the entire year was for nothing! what a f'n waste. ysu *lows.

College student debt now exceeds $1,000,000,000,0000 nationwide, a criminal stat. This YSU tuition hike will only drive local students deeper into debt slavery. Why act like sheep taken to slaughter? Why not follow the example of students in Montreal and Toronto and take to the streets? You have nothing to loose but the ball and chain of lifetime indebtedness.

when my older sister went there about 7 years ago, parking was $40. private schools are 'more expensive' but assure that you're done in 4 years. ysu likes to screw you with scheduling, financial aid holds, ect. in the long run, ysu is more expensive. it's getting ridiculous with the cost and fees.

Don't worry about it. Borrow the money and relax. Obama will forgive the loans and your education will be paid for by others. Where's he get the money? He doesn't know either, he just spends it and doesn't worry. What's another trillion. He's nice like that.

Ahhhh, Yes, YSU is the root cause of all problems in the Valley. I bet it somehow is linked to the rampant poverty, continued dwindling of industry, and an attitude of, "If I can't have it, neither can you," in the region. The 'chip on the shoulder' of people in the region probably has a lot to do with its surroundings. What a joke.
