West Branch OKs Sellaroli for basketball

Staff report

Lou Sellaroli was approved as boys basketball coach at West Branch on Sunday by the Board of Education.

Sellaroli, who was previously head coach from 1997-2003, was approved by a 4-0 vote with one board member absent.

He replaces John Hancock, who was not retained after three seasons.

“We are very happy to have Lou Sellaroli returning to the boys basketball program,” said West Branch superintendent Dr. Scott Weingart. “Lou has remained active in girls basketball at West Branch and has played an important role in the basketball at West Branch for the past 20 years.

“The basketball interview committee looked outside [the district] as well as inside. Mr. Sellaroli had the experience, the knowledge and the passion, and we feel quite fortunate to have someone to lead the boys’ program who is already on staff.”

Sellaroli is a special education teacher at West Branch High School.
