WASHINGTON (AP) — A congressional official says nine-term Rep. Steven LaTourette of Ohio will not seek another term.
LaTourette is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and a close confidant of House Speaker John Boehner. The announcement comes just three months before the congressional elections. LaTourette's district, the 14th, includes a portion of Trumbull County
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the individual was not authorized to publicly discuss the congressman's plans.
The Columbus Dispatch reported Monday that LaTourette decided to retire over a dispute with leadership on committee assignments.
LaTourette spokeswoman Deborah Setliff said the congressman would attend a news conference in his Bainbridge, Ohio, office Tuesday morning. She had no further comment.

Let me be the first liberal to say thank you for your public service.
You surprise me IslandMike, being such a staunch liberal. That was nice of you to say that. Latourette is a good man, and was a good representative. He'll be hard to replace.
