Police investigate shooting in Farrell
Police are investigating a shooting early Monday.
Southwest Regional Police said they responded to a report of shots being fired in the 900 block of Hamilton Avenue. A short time later, they were called to Ravine Place in Sharon, Pa., about a man with two gunshot wounds, they said.
The Sharon man was shot in the leg and arm. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for treatment.
Police recovered 14 shell casings from two calibers of guns.
Police would like anyone who saw the shooting to call them at 724-983-2720.
Salem Community Hospital will host a ground-breaking ceremony for its new patient-bed tower at 2 p.m. today. The ceremony will take place on the east end of the main hospital campus at 1995 E. State St.
An armed robbery in a jewelry store at the Shenango Valley Mall led to a police chase that ultimately involved the critical-response team.
Hermitage police said the robbery happened shortly before noon Monday at King’s Jewelry in the mall.
Two suspects fled, and one hid in the men’s restroom at Applebee’s. Police cleared the patrons from the restaurant, and the Mercer County Critical Incident Response Team went into the restroom and arrested him, police said. He was identified as Terrence L. Jackson, 40, of Columbus.
Police caught the other suspect behind a trash bin at Bob Evans Restaurant, they said.
He was identified as Anthony D. Jacobs, 23, of Columbus.
The gun involved was recovered near the mall. Jewelry from King’s was recovered in the restroom of Applebee’s.
