Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
A 31-year-old homeless man is in Mahoning County jail without bond on an aggravated-robbery charge, awaiting a Tuesday morning initial appearance in Boardman Court in a Saturday evening robbery at Alberini’s Restaurant on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.
Sean Conroy was arrested late Sunday by Boardman police at the Southwestern Run office of his lawyer, Mark Hanni, where he had gone to turn himself in, said Boardman Police Sgt. Darrell Wagner.
The robber, who appeared to be alone, entered the restaurant at 11:29 p.m., with his shirt over his face and his hands wrapped in his shirt, giving the impression he had a handgun hidden in the shirt, and demanded money from a male employee, the victim told police.
The victim told police he opened the cash register drawer and handed over $160, but Conroy had no money on him when he was arrested, Sgt. Wagner said.
Police still need to retrieve the restaurant video as evidence, Sgt. Wagner said, adding that there were no injuries in the robbery
