Crackdown on Youngstown littering announced
Youngstown, Mahoning County and the Ohio Department of Transportation will better coordinate litter clean-up efforts to be more efficient and effective.
Also, city police officers are starting to crack down on litterbugs.
Officials from the city, county and ODOT announced today the effort to make Youngstown cleaner.
The city, county — the sheriff’s department and Green Team — and ODOT will keep in weekly contact to discuss clean-up work done by each entity to avoid duplication and better coordinate the work.

like i said in the other post main culprits are
1. recycle truck I have never seen him hit the truck with everything.
2. Trash truck same as above
Yeah print in the paper how many tickets for ytown police and sheriffs wrote in 2011. I bet very few, but I see daily toss cigarettes out the window. Why are no tickets or very few written?
Make thebpenalty real you know like 500 bucks and 100 hrs of picking up trash for 1st offense. Wellington is useless, but maybe police chief foley can get something done!
Other day I saw an African-American man toss his empty cigarette package out the window of his truck at a gas station. I thought about saying something to him, but didn't want to get shot! After he drove away I picked it up and put it into very nearby trash can.
A couple of weeks ago I was behind a woman on Fifth Ave,, a white woman I guess I should add since Don feels the need to specify race, in a very expensive SUV--she threw out an entire dunkin donuts bag and coffee cup. I leaned on my horn and she sped up. Also, I agree with 2much cigarette butts ARE litter folks and they don't biodegrade. And trust me it's not just Youngstown--I live in Poland and pick up trash from my "devils strip" all of the time.
