Pa. priest explains relationship with teen boy

Published: Wed, January 18, 2012 @ 10:40 a.m.

SMETHPORT, Pa. (AP) — A suspended Catholic priest on trial for charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old boy last year told police he felt “old and alone” so he bought the boy’s friendship with expensive gifts.

The Bradford Era reports a McKean County jury is expected to begin deliberating today whether the Rev. Samuel Slocum corrupted the boy and interfered with his mother’s custody of him by contacting the boy after his mother told the priest to stop. Jurors heard the 60-year-old priest’s statement to police on Tuesday. The priest denies sexual feelings for the boy, saying he felt more like the boy’s “Dad.”

The Erie diocese removed Slocum from duty at two churches in McKean County after the charges were filed in April.

Slocum’s attorney contends the priest exercised bad judgment, but didn’t commit any crime.

Sorry, but some things are better left unsaid.

BUT this priest is not that boys dad. This is extremely scary, and to victims who have been sexually abused by priests, this looks very much like a perfect grooming tactic. Hopefully if there are others who have been harmed by Samuel Slocum, they will contact police, not the church officials.
Keep in mind your silence only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

Judy is well knowm for her ability to attack the Catholic Church. No condemnation is forthcoming against PSU or Jerry Sandusky. The issue here is homosexuality and not the Catholic Religion. Today a couple of male homosexuals can adopt a young boy and groom him the right way with no outcry.

The issue IS the catholic church. They have been covering up the rapes of children for decades if not centuries. Read the bible, it's called a "sin of omission". The cover up trail goes all the way to the popes running what turns out to be a centuries old scam. The congregations deserved much better,
