House hearing at YSU disappoints Rep. Hagan
YOUNGSTOWN
State Rep. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, expressed disappointment Tuesday with a House Agriculture and Natural Resources subcommittee hearing in his district.
“The events that unfolded at [Youngstown State University] this morning lacked any substantive analysis or investigation into injection wells and recent earthquakes in Youngstown,” Hagan said in a statement.
“Instead, the hearing amounted to little more than the continuation of the oil and gas industry’s public relations campaign. Instead of thoughtful answers to probing questions, industry representatives were all too eager in seeking greater latitude for their industry to ‘do what they think is right.’
“Well, I remain unconvinced that the community’s questions are being taken seriously. ODNR still has answers to provide regarding seismic activity and injection wells all over the state, including communities like Marietta and Youngstown. It is almost shameful how brazen the industry is in pushing their agenda over public safety.”

What is shameful is how brazen Bob is. Numerous political positions, lifetime living on the public dime, and what has he ever done for this area? He makes a loud noise but produces nothing. At least drilling companies provide jobs and benefits for employees! What good has Bob done????
Why this hateful attack on Hagan? Did he cause the earthquakes? Did he pollute the groundwater? Why not attack those wolves who did instead of the shepherd? Because you are part of the wolf pack or just very dumb sheep?
No one asked questions with any meat, preparation?? Hagan and Taylor made valid statements. It took 45 minutes to thank everyone from everyone for being there. First speaker babbled for an hour with no confirmed stats. Scarry.... Experts except for Ysu professor were not very informative. Bottom line - we can't drill Pre-Cambrian here, and industry has to disclose info....Get your quake insurance and call your reps. We are in trouble........
the mahoning valley would be in big trouble without Bob Hagan. He gives us hope that the youngstown area might still be able to be considered habitable in a few years or less. wouldn't it be nice if we did the right thing here and broadened the tax base, increased property value, instead of chasing even more people out? bob can't do this alone, he needs the help of those who really DO care about our chidren's health and future. This seems like a good time for a dose of common sense: a constant theme of the industry as late seems to be, "there is no way to prove that 'we' caused these quakes, because ohio is already a very siesmically active and/or potentially active part of the country." common sense makes one ask: so then why are they drilling/injecting here in the first place? Even worse, why are they in such a rush and doing it on such a large scale? We only get one chance to do this right. there a no do-overs.
saying it again listen to me please...............................coal mines people......can't you listen......Briarhill....Parkwood.....Girard.....were old coal and quarry mines...........listen to me please you are signing our death warrants......investigate please or give us free quake insurance so if we die in one of your damn quakes over coal mines.......our kids can bury us ......god forgive these people their pockets and big bank accounts are more important then our lives...........sadly lowering my head in prayer.......please don't let any of my kids or other peoples kids be around when the quakes trash our houses ... please god cause these men are not listening to me
We here in the Valley have come a long way in educating ourselves about fracking and fracking waste solutions. This is good for our neighborhoods and communities. But, what we must understand is, these oil and gas companies run into the same issues and public outcrys all across America, yet they insist on devious and subversive policy. They will never learn, because their goal is getting the oil and gas at the lowest possible cost to them. Get in...get out...be gone before they discover and let the attorneys clean up the mess.
