YOUNGSTOWN
Rejected three months ago for a seat on the Mahoning County Board of Elections by the Ohio secretary of state, who had called him “not competent” to serve, county Democratic Chairman David Betras will ask again to be appointed.
Betras confirmed to The Vindicator on Wednesday that he’ll seek the recommendation of the party’s executive committee for the elections-board seat. He declined further comment.
The party’s executive committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at party headquarters to recommend Betras for a four-year term on the board of elections.
When asked Wednesday about Betras, Matt McClellan, spokesman for Secretary of State Jon Husted, said, “We’ll wait and see who is selected by the party, and then we’ll go from there.”

We do not need this women flirt
in any position.
He is not as popular as he thinks he is.
He should stick to his poor law firm.
He is trying to be Don Hanni.
Because of him I will vote Republican.
He should sober up and take a public speaking course.
Amen
Why of course he will try again. Betras is one of those guys who thinks he just has to be in our life or we can't make it. Talk about annoying. Please do us a favor and just go away David Betras. Just leave us alone. We can live our lives just fine without you. You have become as annoying as Dennis Kucinich. Please leave us alone.
He needs to step down as chairman if he is going to take this position. Vindy, grow a pair and hold him to the fire. He pledged in his campaign for chair to never seek a position that has renumeration or benefits paid for by the taxpayer...lying through his teeth.
It's funny how quickly this headline was pulled off the front page and moved to where it is harder to find and comment about. Hmm? Three negative comments about Betras and the Vindy must have said "hide this a little bit. Bury it quickly on page two, then page three. People are right. I see how it works now.
