Congress has only one pledge
The party of ‘No’ has signed a pledge to Mr. Grover Norquist to never raise taxes on the rich.
The national debt will never go down when you’re spending more than you’re taking in. The Republicans don’t care about the national debt. Just don’t raise taxes on the rich and corporations.
Taxes have to be raised on the rich and corporations, with no loopholes. The top 30 corporations in this country paid no taxes the last five years, and actually got tax credits. The government gives oil companies $20 billion to drill. As if they need if. They just keep gouging our eyes out.
There are 219 millionaires in Congress. No wonder they don’t want to raise taxes on the rich.
The Republicans’ only goal is to make sure President Obama does not get re-elected and no taxes on the rich or corporations.
Any Republican who is not rich or owns a corporation is naive if they think they’re being represented by the Republicans.
I hope teachers, firemen, police and state workers who voted Republican before will realize that the Republicans’ goal is to destroy the unions and so-called middle class.
These people are no better than you or I and shouldn’t be treated as royalty. They are supposed to work for us.
We need a million men and women march on Washington.
No more foreign aid, unless there is a disaster somewhere.
Abolish lobbying, No more pledges. The only pledge is to the people of this country.

Hey Robert, if lobbying is abolished then you would not be able to contact your representative about any issue. Calling your rep's office asking him to vote a certain way on a bill is LOBBYING! I know Ryan doesn't actually REPRESENT his constituents, he thinks he is our LEADER, but don't advocate taking away the only interaction we have with him!
Be careful what you ask for!
Robert, organized labor spends the most on lobbyist.
JME, do you have a link to a source for that statement?
Because everything that I've seen over the years states otherwise. While the unions are a major player when it comes to lobbying, they haven't outspent the private industry lobbyists. Maybe this has changed over the last year, but I doubt it.
ytownsteelman, there is a big difference between a constituent contacting their representative to express their position and a lobbyist contacting a member of congress. Lobbyist have access to a large amount of PAC money where as the average constituent only has their vote and a small contribution. Who do you think has more influence and who will they listen to?
@300, there is a source and I will work on locating it for your pleasure
100 of the US companies with the top paid CEO's.
25 of the top paid CEO's were paid more in compensation than their company paid in federal income tax.
20 companies spent more lobbying congress than they paid in federal taxes.
You can read about their offshore tax havens and more in the link below.

I will work on locating a link that shows how those ten years of tax breaks for the rich and corporate welfare have "created" American jobs. So far no luck.
Cambridge, why are you so jealous and want to bring down your fellow neighbors to your level of suffering, instead of improving your own situation?
Does that sound familiar flip-flop?
Cambridge, as usual, you have no idea what your talking about and distort the truths.
Get a life you miserable old man.
"GE Appliance Park is expanding, bringing more jobs to the area.
GE will fill 480 manufacturing jobs needed for a new line of products.
The public is encouraged to apply because the park is looking for a variety of qualifications.
"You need a high school diploma or GED. We'd like manufacturing experience, but just coming out of high school you won't have that so it's not required. I suggest everyone who needs a job apply," said President IUE-CWE Local 83761 Jerry Carney."

"Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Immelt has said GE will add more than 15,000 jobs in the three years through December. About 1,100 will be outside Detroit in a center for information technology. So far, GE has hired about 660 people in Michigan, a state that led the nation in jobless rates, making it a symbol of U.S. industrial decline."

well last time i tried to call my rep i was told he wasnt available, guess i didnt have enough money to "lobby" him abolish it now, they only listen and represent the wealthy, and corporate, bunch of useless 1%ers, vote em all out, they're all traitors to the constitution
Uncommonsence,Bob Hogue,
Arwe you members of a union? the NRA? Planned Parenthood? NFIB? or an similar organization? Guess what, they lobby on your behalf.
"To hear President Obama, liberal mainstream media outlets and congressional Democratic leaders tell it, Washington is "still" in the grip of evil special interests like Big Oil, Wall Street and the pharmaceutical drug industry. It's a familiar line, but when the actual numbers for campaign donations by the top 100 special interest donors are toted up, it becomes quite clear which is the biggest one of them all -- Big Labor. The union bosses spent more than $500 billion on campaigns between 1989 and 2009, with well over 90 percent of the total going to Democratic presidential and congressional candidates.
That's more than 10 times as much as was spent by Big Oil during the same period, according to federal campaign finance data compiled by professor Antony Davies of Duquesne University. In fact, Big Labor gave twice as much as the totals for the Big Oil, telecommunications, insurance, pharmaceuticals and real estate industries combined."

Here's one for Cambridge the whiner:
"The 325,000-member California’s Teacher’s Association, one of the largest and most powerful political interests in the state, spent the most -- $6.2 million on lobbying efforts through the end of September."

"BOSTON-Massachusetts unions are on pace to break state records for spending on lobbying, "

"MADISON — Unions topped all comers in lobbying muscle, with four labor organizations spending almost $6.3 million combined in the first six months of the year to influence the Wisconsin political process."

"Maryland's powerful teachers union topped the list of special interests paying to influence the General Assembly last session, spending $1,034,000 on lobbying lawmakers."

."Overall union spending in elections: Professor Antony Davies from Duquesne University put out an incredible report about how labor unions, from 1989-2010, gave twice as much as the totals for the Big Oil, telecommunications, insurance, pharmaceuticals and real estate industries combined – that number…a half Trillion dollars. Yes, that’s a ”T” – trillion!"

"The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is now the biggest outside spender of the 2010 elections, thanks to an 11th-hour effort to boost Democrats that has vaulted the public-sector union ahead of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the AFL-CIO and a flock of new Republican groups in campaign spending."

JME....You can stop looking for that link that says unions spend more on lobbying than corporations because I found a link that your claim is BS.

You're welcome. :-)
Mr. Hogue, when was the last time 3 great cities like Detroit, Cleveland, and Youngstown, last, had a Republican Mayor?
