Poland junior Celia Melillo places 22nd in state diving

CANTON

Poland High junior Celia Melillo finished in 22nd place in the Division II girls state diving championships on Wednesday.

Melillo finished with a score of 140.30.

Kendalle Weber, a senior from Wauseon, won the competition with a score of 432.50. Brittany Anderson of Columbus Wellington, a sophomore, was second with 415.25 and Samantha Teneyck of Millbury Lake, a junior, was third with 401.40.

Another Wauseon diver, senior Lacy Lynhier, was fourth with 383.70.

In Div. II boys diving, Logan Bauer of Botkins, a senior, won the championship with a score of 474.05. Alex Gonzales, a junior at Canton Central Catholic, was a close second with 473.80, and senior Danny Moorhead of Cincinnati Christian finished third with 426.25. Noah Stone, a senior from Chesterland West Geauga, was fourth with 408.95.

No boys divers from the Valley competed in the diving competition on Wednesday.
