MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) — A 2-day-old infant has died after police say it was bitten in the head by a family dog at a home near Pittsburgh.
Police in McKeesport have yet to release the names of the baby’s parents, but say the Husky that apparently bit the child was one of four dogs in the home, along with a pit bull.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office says little Howard Nicholson was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m. today at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
Police Chief Bryan Washowich says the baby was lying on the floor when the dog grabbed him by the head about 9:30 a.m.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday morning. Police are investigating how the dogs were kept in the home among other matters.

When will people learn that animals cannot be trusted with infants and small children? WHY would they lay a newborn baby on the floor with 4 dogs running loose in their home? A dog can't tell the difference between a baby and a babydoll. And if that weren't enough to worry about, who knows what a dog will do when a small, wiggly, wailing "thing" invades their once happy home. It's not the dog's fault; it's the owner's fault. Personally, I think these parents were negligent.
There was no reason to mention the pit bull. You are just giving people who do not know what great dogs they are reason to hate them.
They mention the family having a pitt bull so as to inform the reader of the general socio-economic level of the family involved.
We now can understand how the parents were able to make such a poor decision of having 4 dogs around a newborn.
Pit bulls are just about the only thing that unites trashy people of all colors.
The pit bull was innocent and should not have been mentioned in the article. Even the State of Ohio has decided that pitties should not be automatically labeled "vicious"
to 300:
Pit bulls are not the thing that unites trashy people of all colors...ignorance is.
What kind of parents place a 2-day infant on a floor, during the winter, with four dogs in the home? They don't make you pass any tests to become a parent.
Stupid, dumbahh humans like these should never be given the right to have children. They should be "fixed" just like their dogs.
PLEASE these people lost a child, do you think they really wanted this to happen. No one is perfect
asdfg, you are correct...I feel bad for the family for losing their child.... They should still be charged with involuntary manslaughter for allowing this to happen. I am happy they mentioned a Pit Bull in this article. It shows you how negligent the caretaker was leaving a baby around 4 dogs especially around a viscous breed like the Pit. 300, you are correct and i like that phrase. I may use it.
Racism is the pits.
