Man to trial for homicide in noodles fight
GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man will stand trial on charges that he killed his live-in girlfriend during a drunken fight over some noodles.
State police say 38-year-old Keith Kruel, of Wendel, killed 40-year-old Tina Marie Ohler on Nov. 11. Police testified at a preliminary hearing Monday that Kruel denied responsibility until a trooper told him autopsy results showed the woman had been assaulted.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports the couple argued about 2 a.m. after a night of drinking when Ohler cooked some noodles for Kruel who either fell asleep or passed out and then told Ohler he didn’t want the food when she roused him. Among other things, police say Kruel pushed Ohler from behind, smashing her face into a door frame.
Police say the couple had a history of domestic violence.
