The Campbell fire and police departments are investigating two apparent arsons.

The fire department said the fires occurred overnight from Wednesday to Thursday morning.

They were a block away from each other.

The first fire, at 2990 McVey St. at 9:58 p.m., was at an old building that used to be a school, the fire department said.

The owner lives in Columbus, and the building was being used for storage.

The building also caught fire Jan. 12. This time, it was destroyed, the department said.

Firefighters, assisted by Coitsville and the Campbell department’s volunteers, were at the scene until 3:30 a.m.

The second fire, at 311/2 Fifth St., was called in at 4:46 a.m.

It destroyed a vacant, three-story house, the department said. The owner of the house lives in Aliquippa, Pa.

No firefighters were injured during either blaze.

A Campbell fire department spokesman said there were problems with fires being set at vacant houses in the same neighborhood about two months ago.
