LISBON

Judge C. Ashley Pike of the Columbiana County Common Pleas Court has been appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on Grievances and Discipline.

The commission conducts hearings and makes findings and recommendations to the Ohio Supreme Court in disciplinary case involving ethical-misconduct charges brought against Ohio lawyers and judges.

The commission has 28 members, all appointed by the justices of Ohio’s top court. Of that number, 17 are lawyers, seven are judges, and the remainder are neither lawyers nor judges. Members of the commission receive no compensation or benefits for their service, only reimbursement for expenses.

Judge Pike and other new members of the commission will be sworn in at the Supreme Court by Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor on Friday. Judge Pike previously served as chairman of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism and as a member of the court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education.

His current appointment is for three years.

He is the presiding judge of the common-pleas court and is seeking re-election to a third term this year.
