Designate a driver for New Year’s
The Ohio State Highway patrol is urging motorists to designate a sober driver this New Year’s holiday and released a dash-cam video of a recent crash to reinforce the message. The video can be viewed at www.youtube.com/oshp and was taken Thursday when a cruiser, driven by a trooper assigned to the West Jefferson Post, was hit by a suspected impaired driver on Interstate 270. The trooper had stopped because of a disabled vehicle. The trooper and the person in the disabled vehicle were uninjured. The driver, Sherri L. Frank, 44, of Plain City, was arrested for suspected OVI. This crash was similar to and less than two miles away from where Trooper Frank Vazquez was killed on I-270 in 2001 by an impaired driver. Drivers can call #677 to report impaired drivers or drug activity.
