JCC offers Hebrew and fracking classes


The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, is offering Hebrew 101 for adults, which will teach the basics of the Hebrew language including reading, comprehension, vocabulary and Hebrew conversation.

Classes will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Jan. 9 through March 13 in the adult lounge.

Adults can also learn about fracking from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 17 in the multipurpose room.

Dr. Jeffrey Dick, professor and chair of the geological and environmental sciences and director of the Natural Gas and Water Resources Institute at Youngstown State University, will give an overview of Utica Shale Activity and associated environmental issues in Ohio.

Cost is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers and includes lunch and lecture.
